didn't Kirkland recently write an article detailing how he was really depressed during his career, but it was a time when it was not as in the open so he bottled it up? Could be more the reason he didn't quite get there

On friday.

Both had good careers relatively speaking, but Scott Carson especially was hyped a canny bit iirc. Obviously the counterargument is Hart at Birmingham, De Gea being first choice being allowed the mistakes early on.

Given, Pickford, Krul...

Those are prime example of taking the chance. Lets face it without the rigidity we have under Rafa's structure, we are in a pretty good place to take a chance on him, he's going to get a chance to shine but not be expected to keep us in games.

First goal was defence's fault all day long [emoji38]

Don't understand the hate towards Elliot

Just goes to show how differently people view things.

And fwiw thinking someone's not good enough or has made a mistake doesn't automatically equal hate.

I just think if one attacker has the ball for that long in the 'danger area' so to speak, and is allowed a shot as well, it shows a lack of defensive nous to properly remove the striking opportunity. It's hardly like they were caught out.

It's been mentioned but he was shepherded away from a much more dangerous position to the edge of the area where his shot was weak. Manquillo did the right thing, trying to get the ball there is suicidal.

Manquillo did Ok, but I think someone else should have also come out to help close down once he was being worked towards the edge of the area. One feint or drop of the shoulder and it's a shot at the goal, I believe PL defenders should know this. No defender wants to be left 1-1 vs any PL striker imo.

Don't agree. It was shite defending and shite keeping in equal measure; either of those two does better and we don't concede.

Jesus Christ this state of the board at times man

Has Elliot made a big fuck up this season? No.

Some goals maybe he could have done better with but FFS, this position isn't a massive problem for us atm.

Upgrade in the summer for sure, but people need to chill man, he's not that bad.

Just because the 1st was defended badly doesn't mean Elliott was blameless.  It was a slow shot at his near post, even a decent GK saves that imo.

Every cross that came in this after, had me in fits of nerves personally, maybe that's just me. At this level he needs to be saving some of these long distance shots that have gone in, the Stoke one and the one  today, are ones you would expect a PL keeper to save.

Nobody blamed him on tv, commentators or pundits in the studio. Too many people just looking for an excuse to get on his back. Unfortunately we have a section of supporters who aren't happy unless they're targeting certain players.
