Davide Santon (now retired)

Howay then, where is Kadar?

No sign of him at Scunthorpe, despite Williamson's injury he was nowhere near the Fulham game.

I have no idea where he is, maybe he's got a knock? Who knows.

The point I'm making is that there are only so many players you can keep happy for any position and I think 4 is enough, if the club don't rate Kadar then replace him and move him on but until then he has to be considered as part of the squad.

Personally I'd have been happy for a versatile player like O'Shea to come here simply because he can fill numerous positions if we're desperate, but 5 specialised centre backs or strikers is too much IMO.

we've got Perch....

Get in, hope he is match fit. Now for a bloody striker and Cisso...

Assuming santon is our new LB, who would you play at RB, personally i wud say Raylor purely due to his crossing and free kick abilities. Wudnt say him or simmo are particularly good defenders but raylor is defo better going forward...

Hot-hand of the 2 - right now its Raylor.  Simmo has played pretty poor and his crossing is gash.  Offers 0 going forward in all of our matches this season.

Anyway I've made my point that our CB depth/quality certainly can be improved but it is not a 'gaping hole'. But due to different interpretation, I can see how others might see the position as a 'gaping hole', happy to agree to disagree

Yes better than Simpson who I would put in ahead of him. Both limited players but Taylor edges it for me

Glad this one is over the line... Just need a left back now to complete the defence...

Santon is our left back......

Everyone is assuming so and quite rightly... But he should be our right back having seen him... Let's see what happens tomorrow... Lyon have just bought a new full-back in the last hour...

Simpson. Better defender than Raylor.

Whaat? Raylor is clearly better at defending. Even at LB he shows that. Simpson is decent going forward yes, but lacking calmness and positioning. Also has a couple of absolute p*ss poor passes during a game.

Raylor's not better at defending. Absolutely no way.

Really happy about this one, I have to say. I always remember him being highly rated so it's come as a surprise to say the least.

Love the difference in emotion between this post and your one in the Macheda thread.

Neither is great defenders. Simpson simply fucks up more imo.

I share this account with two flat mates, one is close to suicide the other enjoys cheap signings with fantastic resale potential.

Simpson is unable to hit a semi-difficult pass..He hoofs the ball if he's under the slightest pressure, or hits a support pass..Raylor is more constructive in his choices, as we saw against Fulham where he and Colo had some nice combos..

Simpson has been shite of late but I don't think he's a bad defender. Decent anticipation and he covers well across the centre. When he wants to he's good in the tackle, too.
