TRon
NEWCASTLE United have been rocked by a knee injury to new boy Davide Santon. The Italian was injured in training this lunchtime and sent for a scan. Toon boss Alan Pardew said today: "Unfortunately Davide has hurt his knee in training and been sent for a scan. "It is an injury he has had before, we think it is a cartilage problem." Indeed. Unlike other connective tissues, cartilage does not contain blood vessels. Because of this, it heals very slowly. Just perfect, fucking perfect! powellnufc
He had a torn meniscus before, it is very common to reoccur, usually after surgery you can be back playing within 6 - 8 weeks depending on how fast the swelling goes down.

Guest ykmkmdd
Chance for Ferguson surely? If Enrique had picked up this injury at the end of last season Fergie was next in line, hope he's fit enough to step back in.
gbandit
Fuck, no way Pardew will have the balls to go with Ferguson over Raylor. This is a proper piss take like. We'll have to get obertan off, have Marv and Guti on the wings who can hold up the ball far better because Raylor at left back is going to get plundered again and again. We were so lucky not to concede three down that side against QPR. Against Villa we'll be contending with far better wingers and full backs, man, he has to consider Ferguson at least instead of that embarrassment Raylor
ShearMagic
How about we wait for confirmation before claiming that we'll be without him for 'months'?
Guest ykmkmdd
In fairness to Ryan Taylor he's been part of a defence that's conceded once in 4 games, I worry more about how he limits our attacking options down the left side, Ferguson is the better option IMO. powellnufc
The length of time he is out will depend on whether or not they allow it to heal naturally or go for surgery. If they allow it to heal naturally it would be under a month, but as there is a lack of blood flow often surgery is needed (6-8weeks)

Lush Vlad
The length of time he is out will depend on whether or not they allow it to heal naturally or go for surgery. If they allow it to heal naturally it would be under a month, but as there is a lack of blood flow often surgery is needed (6-8weeks) Pretty much this. Had a quick read up, could just be a small tear and not require surgery, would still swell up if that's the case. Fingers crossed it just swelled a little bit and it's precautionary, from the quotes ('Santon's knee looked a little bit unhealthy after training), it sounded like he completed the training session, and then it swelled up after. Would hazard a guess that a larger tear would stop him from continuing? Perhaps it wasn't that bad #overlyoptimistic
