Davide Santon (now retired)

Recommended Posts

Plenty of time has passed to forget how shite he was doing for us week in week out. Another one that never really does enough for his talent, reputation and potential.

Fingers crossed all the same he comes back stronger like.

 we have missed his crossing and solid defensive positioning.

 Santon was alright man,

 I just always struggled to see what he was good at. A defender that can't defend, and an attacking FB that can't cross or shoot.

It's tough to cross when you have to cut onto your right every time

Another one signed on the cheap due to being injury prone.

The official match report said he came of as a precaution.

Santon came off just before the 60 minute mark as a precaution after picking up a minor knock to the ankle but he looked fit and strong throughout while Gutierrez was visibly sharper then he had been in his previous outing, against West Ham's under-21s last week.

@CraigHope_DM: Davide Santon suffers injury setback in training-ground game with Gateshead. Jonas Gutierrez comes through okay. More to follow @MailSport

Too injury prone.

He was injury prone when we bought him, that was why he was relatively cheap and no one else was willing to take a punt on him.
