Agree with getting rid of Barton and Nolan, but we should have kept Carroll and Enrique.

My views on the Carroll sale has changed a lot over the months, basically gone from feeling shite after we just sold him, to accepting it was too good a fee to turn down to really looking forward what we could do with that money in the summer after we had signed the likes of Cabaye and Ba to now again thinking it was completely unnecessary as we haven't reinvested or replaced him properly.

Would you like to win the lottery?

Pretty obvious answer like, even if we're talking purely the playing staff?

No CB cover, Simpson has been poor so far this season and we haven't even played anyone yet, Santon is a right footed left back who hasn't kicked a ball so could be hit or miss, Ba has had one good game, Marveaux has done nothing of note against anyone of note so far.

Jury is still out on pretty much everyone apart from Cabaye (who looks to have settled in immediately), obviously people are getting a little bit excited, which is a refreshing change from discussing how many seasons before we're in the conference by this point of the season like, but still, howay.

Still think it was a mental decision to get rid of Carroll since the money wasn't spent.

Regardless of his form at Liverpool, he was scoring the goals for us and there was no reason to suggest this would have been any different had he stayed.

Not specifically true. Pardew had made noises about changing the team's style as soon as he came in iirc. In terms of playing football on the deck and looking to build a quick, fluid passing style, Carroll's an unknown quantity. If you look at our team and setup now, say with Ben Arfa as our number 10, I'd rather have Ba playing ahead of him than AC, he just offers a lot more within the system as his all-round game is better and he complements our midfield with his movement.

(This isn't a kneejerk Ba reaction from the Blackburn game, I've seen him at previous clubs and always been impressed)

Basically what's been said earlier. Would have kept Enrique and Carroll and bring in a competent managing director. Always liked Chris Mort, would love to have him back. Always keen to speak to the fans as well.

If the money wasn't spent how have we ended up Ba, Ben Arfa, Cabaye, Tiote Santon, Marveaux, Mehdi, etc in our squad? are they here playing for free?

FWIW the club have already told us what the wage cost of those players is, including new deals for existing players (probably not Gutierrez of course). Llambias says it's a 7% increase on the annual wage bill, which based on the most recent published accounts translates as £3.3m.

Oh, and that would give us a wage bill of around £50m. We received £47m this summer from TV/media and prize money alone.

Doesn't stack up.

There is still a lot of room for improvement.

What needs to be improved are as follows:

The purchase of a right back, left back, central defender and striker

The transfers of deadwood like Smith, Xisco, Ranger and Perch

Regular communication from the organ grinder and not the monkey

Information on what financial benefits for the club regarding the SD slogans

How does management intend to bring back the 6k or so missing supporters

What has improved

Squad/team quality

Youth development

Possible debt management

Coaching/team management quality
