Apparently because it happened for his national team during the Copa America, it fulls under FIFA and CONMEBOL's jurisdiction, which means the FA can't charge Enzo as much as they probably would have wanted too. However with Bentancur it happened while not on International duty and in his spare time, so he they can charge him as he's representing Tottenham in that moment.

I'd be sending off at least two players and one of the managers every game the way they carry on.

 

A big part of the problem is players and managers behaviour, which needs improving, which would help with a lot of these issues.

 

These refs are grown men with wives and kids back home. Getting in their faces and screaming at them is so disrespectful.

 

Some of those pictures of Klopp right on top of them berating them man ... deserves to have those goofy teeth slapped out of his stupid face.

Squaring up unfortunately is all some need to justify setting upon you, it would be your own fault then, according to them.

 

The rage, the anger and vitriol, because you thought it was a corner not a goal kick, well it beggars belief, honestly it's bonkers the way some parents get.

 

And, as someone who doesn't scare easily, sometimes you get unnerved by certain teams and their utterly mental parents, and 99% of the time it's parents in Youth football, not the managers who go way too far. God knows what a teenage ref thinks and feels. My heart goes out to them for what they have to face. 

 

I only refereed in youth football myself as I still played at the time, but I enjoyed refereeing. I can't say I would recommend it, well unless you can stay calm and have the thickest of skins.

I just meant in the pro game but yeah I can only imagine what it’s like in the lower echelons. Some right heed the balls around. 
 

It’s been an issue for years. Rewatching some of the footage of Man U back in the day is genuinely disgraceful.

My favorite trivia about Collina is how he was the only active Serie A referee during the match fixing scandal that the match fixers couldn't turn, no matter how much money they tried to buy him with. When money didn't work, their next move was to pay a player to "accidentially" tackle and injure Collina, allowing for a bribed referee to ref the games he'd miss because of that injury... they got no takers, as even though they'd been bribed to fix matches already and seemingly had no fear of being caught doing that, they all feared Collina so much that nobody dared go near him

Had to phone a referee up tonight because a lad from our second team spat in his face after being sent off. The ref was 18 and it’s his second year refereeing. I apologised on behalf of the club and stressed how much I hoped it wouldn’t put him off refereeing.

 

Refereeing is such a hard job and the lack of respect shown to referees is shameful.

I told the ref that the club supported him in whatever action he chose to take and that we wouldn’t be disputing his events.

They need to be all camera’d and mic’d up. It wouldn’t put an end to it but it’d make the radge bastards with a chip on their shoulder think twice. Upload it to some sort of FA database after every game so we can have the fuckers on file. Can also be used for ref’s to make improvements in their game. They do it because they’ve got the backup of their mates and there is little to no repercussions. It’s not just players as well, it’s fans. Most of them don’t even realise they’re doing it, it’s just habitual. They do it to get a laugh out of the crowd. Tosspots.

Colina was a terrific ref - I think there was a move to get him over here when he finished Serie A. If memory serves, he was also in the middle the night we beat Barcelona 3-2, back in 1997.

 

There was also a big dutch ref about 20 odd years ago - nearly as tall as me. He didn't take any rubbish either.

I know people hate the idea of sin bins, but yellow and red cards are really poor tools to manage a game with. Yellows are really meaningless on the whole, yes players might be more careful but when you know the next time you give a yellow its a sending off it can't be easy for refs. Having sin bin cards instead of yellows (they could still stack up for bans over a period), and red cards for actual violence and maybe deliberate actions like hand ball on the line. This gives the ref far more control over the game as if someone is a twat and makes a shit tackle they're off for 5 mins, do it again and its now 10 mins etc. Works in other sports would work in football.

They Use sin bins in the northern league

Mental the shite refs get at that level. Kids football can be bad as well like

Obv it’s the coaches who ‘ref’ at u6 and u7 but we had a lad in the u6s on Saturday take a real swipe at another kid, he was taken off immediately but we had the 2 dads, both meat heads going right at it rather than let the coaches sort it out. Just a lack of control and respect even at that level.

 

the u7s dads have also pushed a bullshit rivalry with another team from when they were kids onto the kids. Totally a one sided rivalry but it’s leading kids getting teased at school and a real horrible atmosphere when the boys play each other.

 

no surprise that the kids grow up with an attitude of thinking they can do and say what they like
