Cant believe ppl saying that HBA isnt a winger. He is perfect on the wing imo, he will get more time on the ball then he does behind the striker. He has the acceleration to get into decent scoring chances or in position to put the ball inside the box. He also has been playing on the wing for his previous clubs, so what is it that doesnt make him a winger?

His lack of pace I think...and it's very very important for a winger. He could be used as a winger but more like a wide midfielder and not a typical winger who goes past his marker and put a cross in

:crazy2:

people stop making out like Ben Arfa is the second coming,  there's a reason he don't get played on the wings.

he doesn't track back, putting Arfa infront of santon or raylor is like asking for trouble,  raylor would be highly exposed without jonas covering his ass,  santon would just plow foward leaving no one on the left flank.

sure maybe he can play infront of simpson then people would whine "oh look he's left footed playing on the right flank"

It was a game that showed us where we've got to in our development. Whilst we were unlucky in the first half, we needed to step our game up a bit in the second half and try something different, but we were stuck in a pattern that yielded fewer and fewer chances.

The big difference between us and the teams ahead of us is that when we're in possession but put under pressure, too often the ball goes backward. As a result, some of our build-up was too slow. The better teams can take advantage of being closed down by moving the ball forward into the spaces that the opposition have left. I'd hoped that Ben Arfa and Marveaux would add that to the side, but obviously for different reasons that's not happened.

Something to work on, but no need to get despondent.

Jonas is right footed and plays on the left.

Sammy is hardly known for tracking back.

We didn't need a winger tracking back today, we needed somebody who could split the defence.

Having Ben Arfa ahead of Santon today would probably have been much more productive than having Jonas.

Exactly.

This isn't some sort of "OOOO WHY WILL YOU NOT PLAY OUR BELOVED BENNY BOO HOO" either, it's just fucking idiotic that he's been left on the bench.

He's not a winger though apparently, he just played on the wing for 2 French league winners but he's not a winger.

Productive maybe but just as dangerous...Santon looks good going forward but think about it when HBA doesn't track back at all and Santon goes forward! Today Jonas covered a lot when Davide was attacking

we didnt need to attack on the wings either as every ball that came from there were headed out.

if arfa was to come on, we should  have played a three man uptop,  Arfa Ba and obertan.

maybe with arfa behind ba and obertan, that would have gave us the penetration through the middle.

and played jonas tiote and cabaye in the central three midfield.

You can make your name out

You actually chat to any ex-players/rich/famous people?

I didn't chat to anyone but saw a few famous faces. Got the lift up with Lovenkrands, his misses and kids. Saw Beardsley, Dabizas, Mick Martin, Beresford and Shearer.

Did you enter a competition to win that?

From your original reaction, it seemed that your name was plucked out of the air!

Nah I didn't enter owt, they just pick a member at random.

Yep. We were set up well, we had a decent shape and played some decent stuff with only the goal frame and a couple of blocks/saves keeping us out. After an hour though we looked really short on ideas. They still weren't in the game but we just needed a spark, some creativity to stir things up a bit and open their defence. Ben Arfa would have been the ideal, logical choice. If it didn't work them fair enough, but to not even try it was farcical.

Totally agree with this.

Frustrating as fuck today but well played Swansea, they came with a solid set up and deserved their point.

I think we're seeing the petulance that saw HBA gain many an enemy in France. Didn't warm up & messed around when AP wanted him on #NUFC

Exactly. There's no guarantees in anything.

Pardew was always going to have two tests today: What team he'd pick and then what changes he'd make if needed.

All in all he passed the first. But in the last 25-20 minutes when the game was dying he failed to do anything.
