Ted Maul
Ben Arfa and Beardsley are quite different so pretty incomparable, but they are definitely the two most naturally gifted players I've ever seen at NUFC. Both can (or could in Pedro's case) just go past players like they're not even there with incredible close control. Such a privilege watching Ben Arfa play the game just as it was with Beardsley, we're fortunate.

nuneaton
HBA is up there with Beardsley and first six months Ginola for getting fans off their seats. Robert just behind. Haven't seen enough of Beardsley at least not live in St James, but does he really dribble like HBA on a consistent basis? Yes, mainly in his pants these days nice
Yorkie
Kinda good news in a twisted, roundabout way. We're forced into not taking him, rather than tussling over a potentially regretful decision.
gbandit
Do people think he's the most important player in the squad as regards our chances of getting CL football (by chances I mean, very unlikely chances)?
Guest BooBoo
Colo for me like. Even without HBA we still have some decent firepower.
Jack Flash
Do people think he's the most important player in the squad as regards our chances of getting CL football (by chances I mean, very unlikely chances)? Colo.
Yorkie
It's really difficult to pinpoint a 'most important player' in this team. We've got three out-and-out matchwinners, and i'd say that losing any of them would be a severe dent to any Champions League ambitions. The likes of Tiote and Coloccini are also absolutely vital, as is Cabaye. But so long as that front three is fit and firing, there's a chance we could win any game - regardless of the eight players supporting them imo. We proved that yesterday in the absence of Colo. gbandit
I agree about pinpointing most important players being stupid but I think the link between getting to CL football sometimes requires an attacking player that is really rare. Someone who drives the team towards seemingly unlikely victories. I think HBA is capable of that in the way that his individual talent can win matches in a way others maybe can't
Skeletor
Someone should tweet the Giggs smiley to Ryder.
Hanshithispantz
It's good that we can have this debate, where as for the Mackems every post would be "Sess".
Ted Maul
Aye definitely him or Colo. He gives us that something extra, that bit of ability that creates something from nothing and changes games. I know I'm cliché-ing to fuck here but it's true. That match on Saturday would have petered out into a draw without him taking the initiative. Shak
Colo Ben Arfa Krul In that order, the signing of Anita should hopefully make Cabaye and Tiote less significant losses should they get injured.
Hanshithispantz
Krul is pretty massive, if he's injured I think his replacement would at least be at fault for more goals than Perch would in place of Coloccini.

Hanshithispantz
It might not be tbf, I just know that there was a lot of discussion last season about Harper not wanting to travel away because of his family or something? And Pardew mentioned that we would be rotating the 2 on the bench. I don't know who I'd prefer in any case as neither fill me with confidence. Round about the same time their was a rumour that he was caught playing golf when he was supposed to be injured and that he would never play for us again. I find it hard to believe though because he's always seemed like a model pro throughout his career, i cant imagine him doing something as daft as that. Conversely with Colo out there we probably wouldnt have Defoe getting a free header outside the 6 yard box, Colo and Ben Arfa are our two best players and I think with them in the squad we have a proper scary team

I thought the "wouldn't travel" thing was just that he wouldn't travel to sit on the bench. I think if he was in the first XI, for whatever reason, he'd happily travel. HawK
Shouldn't be pandering to Harper. Let Krul play some of the games to get experience organising a defence against European opposition. Would do him the world of good. Eliott for CC.
