Kanj
"It looks as though we'll lose him for a few weeks and that’s a really big blow. Anyone who has watched our games will tell you what he is like. His hamstring just isn’t right so it looks like we are going to have to take more time over it. It will probably keep him out for a while. We originally thought it would be a mild hamstring injury and we gave it extra time and I was actually expecting him to be available a couple of weeks ago. I rested him in our next game in the hope that he would be right for the last game the weekend just gone. We gave it extra days to get him right but we will now need to take even more time, unfortunately. He will be a big miss for us because he gives us a different attacking dimension from what we have got.” ----------- Sound familiar? Moyes on Kevin Mirallas who was out for a few weeks with his hamstring. Came back and was taken off at half time vs Spurs and now probably won't be back until next month, which is a big blow considering he's arguably our most creative attacking outlet. Sounds very familiar. If there's something wrong with Ben Arfa's hamstring then it's surely madness to play him. You're asking for trouble. *cough* Neil predicted this ffs. Seriously, fuck this season.
TherealnorthernTOON
Don't get me wrong on this one, but as much as I love seeing this lad play it might be a blessing in disguise for a few of our other players. More often than not this season we've resorted to the "give the ball to Hatem and let him fix this for us" way of playing attacking football. With him beeing out for a couple of games might make someone else step up to the plate (like Anita have done the last couple of games), pherhaps Marveaux aswell if given the chance. What we might see is a team trying to bridge the gap between a team with a genius and a team without one so to speak.
Gallowgate Toon
If we continue to play with the same style and shape when he's back, he'll be a monster. He'll add a lot more threat in the final third with his short passing, vision and shooting.
bowlingcrofty
Out for a month according to Ryder
SiLvOR
Probably see him next week then. Agree with you Gallowgate, if we can actually pass and move properly, Hatem will flourish even more.
SEMTEX
It was nice to have a good season last year. Gonna try and remember it as best I can. Might just watch last years games each week instead of catching the live games. We will miss you hatem. :'(
Fenham Mag
Feck sake. Marveaux needs to start every game of the next month.
Jack Flash
He could miss 6 or 7 games if he's out for a month. Not including the 4 he missed before Fulham.
Fenham Mag
Lee Ryder @lee_ryder #nufc fear that Ben Arfa could tear his hamstring if risked in upcoming games against #qpr #mufc and #arsenal So it's basically a precaution that he is out for the next month. Anyone think it's worth the risk?

He won a penalty at OT last season earning us a draw and scored at the Emirates, which almost earned us a draw. We need players like him in these sort of games to have any hope. That is a total shit mentally saying might as well not risk him, just roll over and take the loss.

Guest andrew
I don't know man, isn't a torn hamstring a pretty big deal? 3-4 months out and usually affects pace. i'd rather we manage him carefully because he's one of the best talents i've seen here ever. Lush Vlad
Time for Marv to step up. The hard work of Jonas and physicality of Perch will only get you so far. Needs to start ahead of one of these against QPR.

So you ask if it's worth risking him, I answer your question in a way that doesn't please you so you call my "mentally" shit. It's all about risk management for me. He's far more likely to be significant to the result in some games than others. I never once mentioned rolling over and accepting defeat. Bit of a shit mentality to assume that's what I meant, isn't it?

JH
"There is a danger he could tear that and if he did that he would be out for two or three months whereas if we do it the right way and be sensible about it, it may only be three weeks. And obviously that is the route we are going to take."

Anyone think it's worth the risk? Not for me, i'd rather have him in 3 weeks time than lose him for the rest of season if its that bad. Even after the next four games we have 17 to go, much rather he played in those tbh.

AlanSkÃrare
We'll need him during the spring. Of course it's the right thing to do. Marveaux HAS to play now though.
ExiledGeordie
Yeah no point risking at all and forcing him out for months on end. Seems like they completely underestimated it going into the Fulham game, why bother playing him then at all?
Mick
Sounds like we did though against Fulham Ben Arfa has said that he didn't feel anything, they probably didn't know enough at that time.
