maze
I honestly think he is the best manager that is willing to work under Mike Ashley. Hughton seemed willing enough, I'd rather have him. I'm very happy for Hughton that he got the job at Norwich, and seems to have done some very good transfer deals this summer. Just goes on to prove that with the right setup, and trust, one of the managers Newcastle once had, have the ability to build something decent/good. Which of course will never be the case under Ashley's regime. Also, Hughton had the ability to raise some much needed togetherness and fighting spirit amongst the squad members - something Pardew fails utterly at achieving. Then again, we had Nolan, Barton and Carroll which stood up and fought when we needed them the most. Their football may not have been the prettiest to watch, but I feel they could be relied upon as opposed to some of the players we have today. Tiotes Witch Doctor
I would wholeheartedly rather have Gus Poyet in charge, at least his Brighton team seemed to play positively and achieve relative success.
Unbelievable
I would wholeheartedly rather have Gus Poyet in charge, at least his Brighton team seemed to play positively and achieve relative success. From one lower league manager to the next. Wonder how this one will do with a threadbare squad and negative transfer investment.. Still, better than JFK I suppose. In reality, if we had any ambition whatsoever we would have sacked Pardew and appointed a genuinely top class or at least an up and coming manager with experience at the upper end of the table in a top league. Then we would have backed that manager to a certain degree so he would have a good enough squad at his disposal to have us challenge for Europe at the minimum. Alas, we have the world's tightest billionaire as our owner, who hasn't the faintest idea about our potential or how to run a football club, so we are stuck with Pardew, who takes most of the blame for their collective failings. henke
Ashleys only ambition is recoup his money. He'll spend the absolute minumum to keep us in the premier league, staying up (protecting his investment) is all that matters, just look at last summer if you want proof. If it looks like we're going down he'll buy in January. The thought of bringing Poyet it and backing him? No chance man. Twenty odd years ago we were shit but at least there was hope and ambition, now we don't even have that. Instead of spending £620 on a season ticket you might as well just send Ashley a cheque and stay at home.

I'm giving it 5 home games, if we are still playing the type of football like I have watched since Christmas my direct debit is getting cancelled, I just cant stand watching my team getting played off the park every week and then having to listen to Pardews crap
LoveItIfWeBeatU
With only a couple of games to go last season Norwich fans were convinced they were going to get relegated and they were saying their team played shit, boring football. They had long runs of terrible form. Hughton certainly wasn't very popular there at the time.

They have a manager and a board with ambition though, regardless of how they've played they want to improve. We have an owner who's perfect season is 17th place, zero transfer spending and £25mil re-paid to st james holdings limited.

Norwich fans did not like Hughton very much last season or the football his team played. Norwich have now backed Hughton in the transfer window so we'll see how he does this season. With good signings and a change in Hughs tactics there is no reason why we cant finish in the top ten . No more of this being pleased at finishing 17th - we can and should do better - a lot better - than that !

Guest bimpy474
I haven't seen this posted anywhere, dunno about anyone else but pretty sick of the so called working on bringing in a winger and a striker stuff. Same reports different reporter, same result, no fucker signs. http://www.thejournal.co.uk/sport/sport-opinion/agenda-how-can-newcastle-united-5761883 Newcastle have been working on deals for two players in the last few days - a striker and a left winger. To that add a central midfielder now it looks like Cabaye will be the latest of United’s crown jewels to be taken off them.

captainhaircut
Double deal for Gomis and Gourcuff means we can reduce the Gomis price right down so that Lyon don't have to pay St. Ettiene any sell on fee.
