"Before the season started, we had sat down and agreed the squad was big enough, and strong enough, to finish in the top half of the table."

So we've lost Harper, Simpson & Perch with Cabaye likely to leave since the brain-trust got together to decide that. We've brought in Remy so don't worry we'll be bringing in 2 possibly 3 more in the next week. Great news.

United are hopeful of finally landing a striker in the next six days and The Journal understands they have identified a Ligue 1 target who fits the bill.

The player is not understood to be Marseille’s Andre Ayew, who Kinnear watched over the weekend.

Yet another Frenchman in seems.

oh joy lets continue to do the exact opposite of what our manager wants and sign another frenchman, offered an opportunity to sign a striker who scored 27 goals in a poor team last season? Nah he's british and thats what our manager actually wants and we can't have that.

Our transfer strategy alone means we deserve relegation tbh

That's the thing. Under Freddie Shepherd we could sign players who didn't want to play for us by throwing money at them, now we can't even do that. Mind we won f*** all back then either.

A lot more fun though

Imagine signing for us right now. How ill advised can you be?

Shopping window. You sold a player to Chelsea last window and are about to sell another to Arsenal.

It's not too bad if managed well; Spurs have thrived on it.

Both players excelled and gained reputation before Pardew's reign imploded and Kinnear got involved.

Welcome to Newcastle United. We play s*** football, pay below average-wages, have no ambition, employ dinosaurs and our fans are turning on the club. Dreamland.

thauvin. i'm surprised no club has came in with the idea of signing him then loaning him to OM for a season. he grows up a bit in france, gets more experience and has another year to impress (increase in value). probably not an idea for us but sounds right up chelsea's street.

He's not exactly got a good track record of going out on loan and then coming back and playing for the team who signed him.

What about Peter odemthingy? could be an option and will probably be free.

over 30?!!!

Also way he acted last deadline day isn't exactly a character reference

we have signed plenty of people in the past guilty of similar sort of antics.

yeah but he wants to go to OM, he gets that, he's said he's not ready for England yet so hinting that he will in time and if he impresses his price increases should PSG, monaco come a calling.

Why we  dont we go for Adebayor or Defoe is beyond me

Signing Defoe would probably keep Pardew in his job, asking Ashley and Kinnear to sign a player with no re-sale value might just get him out of it

Basically given how we play, we're crying out for a striker that can hold up the ball and win headers. Unless Pardew goes, any other kind of striker wouldn't make a massive amount of difference.

Defoe is not that kind of striker. I'd rather we went for Rickie Lambert if we were going to sign an English striker.
