AyeDubbleYoo
On a serious note, I don't envy Cisse in all this at all. Must have been a proper dilemma deciding between his religion and his football. Hope he's as happy as he can be with the resolution. (Now it turns out he wasn't trying to force a move etc etc)

alexf
Quite relieved it's sorted even though we don't know fully the ins and outs of the whole thing. Even just one striker in who complements Cisse would be enough to get me feeling a bit more positive again.
PineBarrens
"Papiss Cisse and Newcastle have reached an agreement that will see the Senegal striker wear the club's Wonga logo on his shirt despite his religious beliefs. "Cisse, a Muslim, had previously pulled out of Newcastle's pre-season tour after telling the club he was not prepared to promote the money lending company. "However, after a week of talks, both sides are satisfied with the outcome and Cisse is now available to play for Newcastle once again. "Cisse has been training on his own while his team-mates have been on tour in Portugal but now he is expected to immediately rejoin the first team squad. " About time, the whole thing has hurt the club and he's come out of it looking like a hypocritical idiot. The casino pics f***ed him right over, he had no choice but to back down. I realise you are gutted but as far as I'm concerned it's excellent news. Cisse is mentally far stronger than bent and he will score goals. It was all about engineering a move away or a pay rise though, surely?

Hope he's as happy as he can be with the resolution. (Now it turns out he wasn't trying to force a move etc etc) To be fair to Cisse, he's not (as far as I'm aware) come out and said anything publicly, and it has been dealt with in-house. Bit harsh to hate on him since all we have to go on is paper talk because the reality of the matter as we can factually see it is that he had a problem, he spoke to the club, and it was resolved. I know, I never made the point about the move. I was just saying it must have been difficult for him to resolve it in his own mind. I don't think he did anything wrong, I never have. Ketsbaia
Whey at least Cisse has shown he's angry, he's against it, he's really religious etc, before agreeing to wear it. Making a big deal of it publically makes him look better to his religion. Its all about saving face.
Tisd09
Over the moon with this, hopefully this story will be washed away. The media will keep on bringing this crap up, some will probably come up with some shite puns as well. I have been critical of him during all of this but I am relieved and happy it has been sorted and he is staying. Now get some players in that will help him score some goals you cretins. TRon
I would think Bent's chances of signing have probably now dropped by 50%. Remy and Gomis on the other hand would look like very attractive propositions alongside Cisse.

AyeDubbleYoo
There's a tiny, tiny, tiny chance we were waiting to see how this worked out before finalising moves. It's tiny, as I say. Very small.

I was wondering if the deal Caulkin said was being held up by those at the top, was because they were waiting for this to be sorted out.
Tisd09
The optimist in me is hoping that the club were waiting to resolve this situation before triggering a transfer. A big optimist in me is hoping that Bent was just a contingecy in the event of Cisse going and Remy or a Remy type player without the baggage and Gomis will soon be signed. Or given this is positive news we are going to get about 3 pieces of shit news

Might fit in with what Caulkin was saying about a transfer being all but done but seemingly being kept back by the board.
