Pilko
I agree with Ronaldo on this one, I think it can get frustrating when you see a player losing it but keep getting chosen to the detriment of up and coming players such as Mbwia. I've had a United fan in my ear for the last 2 years saying Giggs has been useless but still regards him as a club legend Useless but they still love him? Ron only loved Shearer for the 'majority' of his time here. Actually, it's a pretty commonly held view, particularly on here, that Shearer during his last two seasons massively held the side back. He is a club legend and all that stuff is great, but him being a nailed on starter did kill us for large parts of those two years. In his final season he was basically a knackared, spent force who played every week and occasionally knocked in a penalty.

In his final season he was basically a knackared, spent force who played every week and occasionally knocked in a penalty. Missed the point I think unless many people felt different ways. I loved Shearer, even though I felt he should be replaced by Kluivert at the time and him and Bellamy should have been the partnership. Although Shearer continued to start, I grew frustrated at this but that didn't waver the love I had for him or turn into anything nasty. Similar to the way I thought Bobby's time was up, I wanted him gone but still loved the bloke but just felt time for a change. There's no 'majority' in terms of love for Bobby and Shearer in my eyes, loved them start to finish, I just had different views on when they should or someone else should have called it a day for them. Yorkie
Still had a 1 in 3 record in the Prem during his last season, aged 35. But aye.
Ronaldo
No discussion to be had here, like. Shearer was world class before his injury and generally a very good goalscorer thereafter up until Bobby's departure, where he became a hindrance, not least because of his self-preserving support for Souness. He's the second best player I've seen in our colours.
Interpolic
Beardsley first, or Carl Serrant? Always find myself in pub arguments debating the merits of the two.
Ronaldo
Nah, Serrant was pretty shit.

The College Dropout
How much would we get for him? £10m? Pretty crap considering he's a top player.
Stuy_O
Age, position would come into play. 10million is a great price imo even though i'd be absolutely gutted to see him leave.

That's why I said 10m but at the end of the day.. it's "only" £10m for one of our best and most consistent players. We would be lucky to find anyone anywhere near as good. AyeDubbleYoo
Is there a specific reason we're all so sure he's going? Just general belief we're selling everyone?

AyeDubbleYoo
Whey that's true of course, and I wouldn't blame anyone for going. But we can't sell everyone, and we don't have a record of selling large numbers of players.
Ketsbaia
The only 2 clubs I see buying him are PSG and Arsenal, but they've been linked with Dani Alves and Aurier. So there's a chance he'll stay, its just that any player with any self-respect would be looking to leave right now. And this one is actually quite good. Stuy_O
I think if he has a decent world cup we'll do very well to keep him. Maybe me just being paranoid mind.
TRon
I think if he has a decent world cup we'll do very well to keep him. Maybe me just being paranoid mind. I think he's in a similar boat to Colo, in that his age could work against him as far as clubs being interested. He's 28 or 29 now isn't he? That would seem to be our best bet of hanging on, as I have no doubt he'd jump at the chance of moving to a club looking to compete for trophies given half a chance. Only place I could see him going would be Italy, too slow to go anywhere else.
Stuy_O
He could easily play in Germany or Spain aswell come on. He's been more than fine in this league which is more frantic than any of them, and if he went to PSG he would have the easiest end to his career he could wish for. Disco
And yet he gets booked for diving in against players too quick for him, caught upfield because he is slow to get back, and done for pace fairly regularly.
