replacement in first thats new, we'll see I suppose

But we haven't have we, we've sold Debuchy but as it stands an offer for Janmaat hasn't been accepted. Now say we bid and it's turned down, Debuchy gets annouced to Arsenal and we are back to normal pretending to try to sign someone before the window slams shut.

Debuchy is likely got everything done but being signed up, may have even signed the contract on his side but not signed by Newcastle who won't sign it until the deal is done for replacement. He jets off for vacation and he prays supremo Lee Charn gets the deal done for Janmaat

Doesn't even make sense anyway, are they seriously suggesting we could decide to keep Debuchy at this point?

If we were serious about this concept, any replacement would have been here weeks ago.

I don't mean to defend the c*nts in charge, but bit hard to achieve that when the supposed replacement is playing at the World Cup.

If only Kanji. More like striker sold, go without replacement for over a year, midfielder sold, do no replace.

Well, yeah, I know, didn't think I needed to say that mate.

I'm as cynical as anyone but you'd be an idiot to not constantly be scouting all positions.

This. Scouting should be done in 2 processes right? Scout for future/academy/potential & scout for 1st team, any position, anyone who can upgrade.

Yup.

Our problem is that we aren't doing it to upgrade and rarely have over the years.

I assume Carr has a fucking boat load of players on the docket that get knocked far down the list due to personal ambitions and all that.

I think of Carr's role as a deal person who sources real estate deals, and you have a specific criteria, and you my friend, Disco - know exactly what the criteria is.... SO he's hand cuffed essentially.

But all jokes aside we just seem to only go after need players to fill gaps. Right back sold? Sign new right back. Striker gone? Sign Striker. All reactionary and cheap.

So unfortunately true.

Feyenoord will sell Janmaat this summer, that is certain.

Tbf, I don't think Louis van Gaal would have accepted players being on the blower to their agent continuously to push through a transfer.

Course they will, he's got 12 months left on his deal. It's the only reason we're interested.

How many players have actually moved while playing at the World Cup? I personally can't think of any.

David Luiz is one. I'm certain there have been others.

Of course there's only one right back in the world that we can afford to replace Debuchy, and there was no chance whatsoever of signing him before the World Cup started.

How come Arsenal managed to get Debuchy btw?

Plus he won't renew and they need the cash.

Quite interesting by the way how Feyenoord have mini-BVB'ed their way out of financial ruin.

I'd love to think that's true but after witnessing how these fuck ups work, Debuchy will be all signed sealed and delivered and we haven't even bidded yet. Hope you're right though.

The whole 'selling Colback to West Ham' story seems to be a lot more believable right now.

Ashley's whole approach to negotiating with other clubs appears to be based on the strategy of 'I know you are, but what am I?'. And then calling out their mommas.

If the Janmaat deal is anything like that one then I am only going to say well done Ashley. Better to lock the deal in than end up being screwed by porn barons pretending to be football owners.

Before the tournament actually started and Luiz was done ages before, it was just confirmed while he was out there.

I haven't actually seen any deals that needed the player to complete the deal while actual games with said player were going on.

They may have struck a deal, not saying that. But the deal wasn't actually done until after Chile were eliminated.

Had his medical 2 days after iirc.

Sort of, it was announced before they went out, but things can be put in motion. We don't do that when there isn't a tournament, all the World Cup has done is give them a excuse to say it's difficult. It's not as if they ever miss an opportunity to tells us that whenever they can..

And what special circumstances mean we have to do that?

Because we were not in talks with Arsenal until mid tournament, we are obviously not going to pursue a player to replace someone if they are no talks with a buyer to begin with.

If we where negotiating with Arsenal before the World Cup started and we decided we wanted Janmaat as his replacement before games were going on i'd agree.

There's not a single transfer that's been going on during the WC which wasn't at least at the negotiation stage before the tournament started.

The Newcastle of old would have built upon one of the top 10 RB's in the world and one of the top 20/30 midfielder's. Along with a solid goalkeeper, pretty solid old centre half and a decent striker or two who can score 1 in every 2 or 3 games. Fuck me - the players we have seen come and go in these last 5 or 6 years is mental. Siem de Jong will just be the latest player to skip across the stepping stones, make his claim for a mediocre side then fuck off to somewhere bigger for a higher fee. It's obvious. If he fails, oh well - he didn't cost much. Trophies don't go to the club with the most financially sound bank account unfortunately, or for the support a team gets, it's a fucking massive shame not like - if they did we would be unstoppable. Mike Ashley and his fuckwit friends should fuck off to Syria in KKK attire waving the bible.
