The College Dropout
Aye, the rest where worse. I don't like Debuchy going forward however. Just stay alongside MYM ffs.
Guest
Could be a case soon where Dummett is left-back and Debuchy & Santon are fighting for the right-back shirt. Neither have been overly convincing. Debuchy was the best of the back 5 today mind.
Guest H09
He's just a taller version of Danny Simpson
Wilson
There were 3 worse defenders than him tonight.
Belfast Mags
Was ok tonight, probably the best of a bad bunch, but going forward, he offers very little, which for all the hype before his arrival is very disappointing. He's easily muscled of the ball and doesn't possess any genuine pace, so he's basically checkmated every time.

Useful in the air for a RB> Keep saying it but wish he would stay at the back and just focus on being solid.
Wullie
He was lucky Lukaku was offside in the first half because his attempt at a tackle was embarrassing. Did alright though, relatively speaking.
Alberto2005
So disappointed with this guy, I can just about accept he isn't the greatest defender in the world but I can't wrap my head around how slow he is
Teasy
Played well against Cardiff in both ends of the pitch. On another day, with better finishing, he coulld have had a couple of assists. Agree he's disapointed so far overall of course.
Ronaldo
He's 28 and doesn't know how where to stand at RB. I don't see good things for him as he gets slower, either.

He's still settling into a new country/league so he'll get some leeway from me no matter what his age. Much more concerned with players who've been here 10 years, never learn and yet still get peoples backing.
Ronaldo
Who's never learnt in 10 years?
Teasy
Steven Taylor, the lad hasnt grown up mentally and hes nearly 28. No new team/league excuses for him either.
Ronaldo
I don't like him much but he's a far better defender now than he was at when he broke through 9 years ago. Never had a game in his career as bad as Debuchy's against Hull, fwiw.
Skirge
More faith in him coming good for us than Santon, he is used to the league and seems to be making no progress at all.

Santon is a far better footballer and younger, he does have his lack of defensive intelligence at times, but I think he's a better fullbacker than we've been used to at this club over many years now. Not sure about that. His predecessor pisses all over him for one.

Danny Simpson? Andy Griffin? Damien Duff? Ryan Taylor? Habib Beye was decent but also asked to fuck off and I think Santon has a higher ceiling. Skirge
Sorry but I have little faith in Santon, he seems to not be learning fro m his mistakes.
The College Dropout
Santon has promise. But he hasn't been any better than Ryan Taylor defensively. At least Taylor would be in position to get raped, Santon isn't even there.
Guest neesy111
Santon does have promise and time with him, Debuchy should be at the peak of his career around now.

Kanji
I actually think our answer here is to play MYM at RB with Taylor at CB with Colo and Santon/Dummett/Haidara fight it out for LB with Santon clearly in the lead. I think this allows MYM to continue to adapt to the league, he's got much more recovery pace, he's probably better at positioning and won't be caught too far up the pitch. thenige
Think Debuchy is bloody good at heading for a full back. Gets a great leap considering his size. The difference between him and Danny 'ball just occasionally hits my face' Simpson in this aspect is staggering.
