Ajax have confirmed the fee as EUR 8,5 mill on their website.

6.6 mill pounds a fair amount to spend on a midfielder... most weve spent on a centre-mid since Scott Parker, who was a similar amount. Positive by the club. Im confident well get Debuchy now.

Frank de Boer:

"Of course we granted Anita this transfer. He's a fantastic lad who has always tried his hardest for Ajax. He has the ability to make his personal interest less important than the team. His departure will be a big miss for us. People talk about last season , in which he was pivotal in a series of wins that lead to winning the title, but that is not correct. He was very important to us before that period as well"

"From our perspective we are a club that bring young players through. They play in our first team and develop so that they are ready to make a step up to an international top competition after a few years. We try our hardest to keep them here for as long as we can. It's always a shame to see them leave in the end, but I want to wish Anita all the best at Newcastle United.’’

Those pictures are from yesterday, aren't they? Meaning he could have trained today with the first team.

I think this one could be a very key transfer in how we evolve our game and begin a more controlling philosophy (keeping the ball, working it, passing to feet).

That's how I'd line up too.  O0

It's a nice thought, but pards sounds downright adamant he's going to resurrect a rigid 4-4-2 in top flight football.

edit: "sounds" through action not necessarily any quotes.
