What a farce football has turned into. Never worthy of a red in a million years.

And yet most people will say it was by rolling out cliches like "he gave the ref a decision to make", "if you do that you're risking it" blah blah blah.

Absolutely fucking ludicrous. Wasn't even a free kick ffs.

Adebayor's was the same yesterday, as clear a yellow as you've ever seen. We're at the point now where any sort of late sliding tackle is risking a red card.

That yesterday WAS a straight red for me - n doubt. Both feet were well off the ground when he dived in and by some distance!

He caught him late on the foot, he was never going to do any damage other than being a bit sore. Five years ago there's no way a red card would have even been considered.

so disappointing that tackles like that Hangeland one are considered red cards now. We are far too hung up on these 'potentially leg breaking' tackles in football. Adebayor's yesterday was never a red card either. All tackles are potentially dangerous and you're as likely to break your leg in a completely innocuous tackle as any other. Tackling is part of the game and players are going to get hurt.

I blame Sky and the media.
