timeEd32
I have my issues with Pardew, but I was giddy when I saw this. It's a great move for all parties. Hope he's here for the whole term - would mean good times ahead.

Interpolic
Not read the thread or anything like that but does anyone else think this is totally fucking stupid and pointless? Why are we the only club handing out insane contracts?
Fenham Mag
Oh great 8 more years of uninspiring football... Yeh that football at the back end of last season was deadly boring

Kanj
He's totally doing that tonight on the town Glad for the man, shocked as hell to be honest but I really am proud that he is our boss and happy for him, the staff, and their respective families too
joeyt
Sniff the air, people... An 8 year contract? Now that's either a fishy smell or someone's shat themselves. Not yet sure which. Time will tell. Wormy?
Interpolic
Oh great 8 more years of uninspiring football... Here we go again. Yawn. After all the stuff he said about giving Pardew a break in future as well.
Spider Jerusalem
Not read the thread or anything like that but does anyone else think this is totally fucking stupid and pointless? Yup, four years left on last contract from what I read earlier. Seem to recall Keegan signing a 10 year contract before leaving 1 1/2 years later. Interpolic
It's just really weird. Same as Ranger 5 years, Pardew 5 years originally, Carr 10 years or whatever. The people who run the club are really peculiar.
sugoinufc
pointless long length of a contract, maybe? for me it signals that the club have the man they want + backroom staff. Its the right plan i think and goes hand in hand with ashleys long term strategy. It will take time to build a strong club that can challenge for top 4 every year, if you dont have the same money as city and chelsea etc. the only negative i can think of is that we play a bit boring sometimes, but im sure it all get better and better from here, if we can keep the quality of the squad at this level or higher. With great players you get great football no matter silly tactics. if we can keep our profiles for at least another year + adding quality in january and in the summer then things could be very interesting. I also think the reason we didnt get more quality this summer was because right deal wasnt there and we are ahead of the clubs plan. could see us make a quality signing ala cisse this winter...maybe debuchy, if lille goes out of the CL and tavernier doesn´t keep playing like he did yesterday. Pardew needs to improve in some aspecs like everybody else, but what i really like about him is that seems to keep the players motivated and fighting for each other. That is hugely important imo. Miercoles
Yeah it's not like managerial contracts mean dick-all. Happy for Pardew, happy with him as manager, but it's not like this means he will be our manager 8 years from now.
