Why do we have to 'ready offers'? Why can't we just make one? Not tomorrow, or the day after - just do it now.

Yeah I don't get this, surely you just phone them up, say "parlay vois anglais", then shout "Remy 4 million pounds" and wait for an answer

Simple really, doesn't take that much getting ready

I picture it as much more of a process. Mike and Derek dive into Mike's money-pool, then start filling up bags of money. To make things as cost effective as possible, Lee Charnley then swings by with the team bus. The three of them load the bus before Lee takes off for France. He then reports back whether the offer was sufficient when he's arrived in Marseille. Knowing what our intial bid's usually looks like, Lee will be doing quite a bit of driving this month.

From skysports' "10 to Avoid":

Loic Remy:

Considering Remy's form for Marseille this season, both QPR and Newcastle would be taking a huge gamble if they splurged a reported £11million on the striker. The France international has scored just three times in 19 appearances this term and his record of 12 strikes in 29 Ligue 1 games last year does little to justify his price tag. That Remy was also diagnosed with a heart problem during his Marseille medical in 2010 may also be a consideration, but more pressing is the lack of evidence to suggest the forward could spark an immediate revival for either of the Premier League strugglers.

Whats the heartproblem? Anything serious?

Apparently its no obstacle to his footballing career with heart specialists saying there is no reason why he can't practice sport at a high level. Sky sports 10 to avoid probably would have included Ben Arfa once upon a time.

Should have included Ben Arfa on that list this year! (i'd be suicidal if he was sold)

It's not right anyway, he's made 23 appearances (13 as sub) this season. 14 (12 as sub) in the league. If we do get him I think it'll be important for people not expect him to turn into a world beater straight away. Cisse was coming off 1.5 seasons of regular goal scoring form, Remy is coming off a misfiring season with little minutes under his belt plus having to adapt to the league.

Yep. Considering the situation we are in though you know that isn't going to happen.

Wow ... that Sky Sports piece is ridiculous!

The guy plays as a wide forward in a 4-3-3 a hell of a lot of the time for starters, which is where we're likely to use him too, and so his goalscoring record from previous seasons is pretty impressive imo. Him not scoring much this issue is due to his return from an injury, so you can't exactly hold that against him either, especially as he hasn't been starting much. As long as he's fit now and ready to play it shouldn't be an issue.

Besides you can't just look at his goalscoring record alone, you have to take into account his attributes too. The guy's dribbling and speed is going to lead to a lot of problems for defences, which should open up more scoring opportunities for the team in general. Bellamy wasn't scoring 20 goals a season, but he was a very valuable and dangerous player for example.

Now this heart issue. Did they even do any research into this? Wasn't this cleared as far back as a couple of season's ago.

Yikes!

His goalscoring record from previous 3 seasons was 45 in 80 games and that was playing out wide a lot... do your research Sky ffs

All he really has to do is use his pace and movement to provide space for the likes of Cisse and that will keep us up.

Anything more is a bonus but he doesn't really have to come and score a goal a game like Cisse did.

I wouldn't be surprised if at OM when he does play that his movement and pace provide chances for those around him even if he isn't scoring.

A lot of fans will be expecting Ba because he's replacing him in the squad but honestly i see Cisse as Ba's replacement and Remy will add something different to our front line and make it function better and be a goal threat also.

I honestly don't expect goals until next season, what i'm expecting is pace and movement to provide space for those around him and i expect that to be enough to get us out of the mess we are in.

Olympique Marseille striker Loic Remy is one step closer to a transfer to Newcastle United. The French international has The Guardian Queens Park Rangers 'no' sold.

Remy's image in Newcastle as a replacement for Demba Ba. The Senegalese swapped The Magpies last week for Chelsea. Manager Alan Pardew hopes to snare Remy quickly, but must first rid faced with fierce competition. Queens Park Rangers seems the arrival of the French in any case on the abdomen to write, the chances of Newcastle United take to hand.

Officials of the club last weekend flew to southern France to negotiate with L'OM. The French club would like to receive some thirteen million euros for the striker. According to French media travels Remy turn Tuesday off to England to medical examination by Newcastle United. In addition, also Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Saint-Etienne) in the picture with the English club.

So I guess that means he's heading here today.

Another source,:

"Announced at the start of the winter transfer window, Loïc Rémy could eventually join Newcastle.

Remy does not want to go anywhere! Although Marseille striker is announced on the left, he did not want to hear about QPR. Moving Harry Redknapp, the coach of Queens Park Rangers, at the Velodrome stadium last Sunday (2-1 win against Guigamp Coupe de France), nothing has changed and Remy cut short the expectations of the club, current red lantern in the Premier League. But according to information of  Team , the OM striker should receive in the coming days, an offer of Newcastle , which could have arguments to convince both the OM and Loïc Rémy .

In Newcatsle, Rémy could replace Demba Ba

Newcastle's star striker Demba Ba has signed this winter in Chelsea, leaving a door to another attacker. So why not Loic Remy? The Magpies seem in any case enjoy the French. Ben Arfa, Marveaux, Cabaye, Obertan and the recent arrival of Mathieu Debuchy could facilitate the integration of Remy in the English club. But even assuming that the Marseille player is seduced by the project of Alan Pardew, the Newcastle coach, is to convince the leaders of OM.

In Marseille we do not want to hear about ready because even if Labrune  announced some time ago that the finance side everything was OK  with the OM, the club is always looking for cash. QPR have made an offer of 10 million euros over the player Shaun Wright-Phillips. An offer of around 12 million from Newcastle may well decide to drop Elie Baup striker although effective offensive OM is reduced more than ever."

Another source for what? For what has been said by countless other, more trustworthy sources already?

Look i was just putting it up for people to have a look. You dont have to read it.

How do I know what it is until I've read it? Look, I'm sure I could find another 1.000 articles on shitty transfer rumour sites that say we are interested and may put a bid in, going off what the mainstream media have been reporting (RMC, Equipe). Don't see what the point is of posting them all in here though..
