Yorkie
We were the better team, Man Utd had the better individuals IMO. Or rather, they didn't have the two worst individuals. That's a terrific summary, tbh.
Dyeyzzon
That Anita injury just spoiled it for me. I was willing to embrace such a battling defeat and than that happened. So depressed.
Skeletor
Fergie reckons they deserved to win. Do you think you deserved to win? Serious question. We led 3 times. And never looked comfortable. As a neutral, it was a wonderful football match - you could make a case for any result (nicked victory for us/nicked victory for them/a draw) being 'deserved'. Marveaux hit the bar, Sammeobi hit the post. We had countless chances. For Ferguson to say his team deserved to win is flat out lying.

I think the shift in scorelines reflected the fact that we won the first half, they won the second.

I think on the balance of things, your lot being top and us being shit, add to that the fact that we haven't won there for some 30 years, we did deserve the win today. We've not played this well at OT probably since we lost 5-3 a few years ago. Played better today than we did last year when we got the draw imo. Completely dominated the midfield. It's barely worth discussing, as i say. The draw would've been the fairest result - but as Ian says, they didn't have several sub-league players in the side (or a manager who felt two sub-league players wasn't quite enough...) Ronaldo
Yeah, draw would've been a fair result. Unfortunately most of the players in our shirt deserved to win, and if I was them I'd be completely fed up right now.

Aye I put a post in at some stage in the second half about you being on Duracell. Terrific energy from the midfield. Though Bigirimana made himself very busy but he gave the ball away almost every time he tried anything but a simple pass. Anita was class. All of our best opportunities came in the last ten minutes (RVP header, Hernandez off the post). I think everyone was just shattered.
Mick
If nothing else, today we've shown that we can play the ball on the deck and play good football while getting a few goals, hopefully we'll play that way again. Our defence is awful but that shouldn't be a surprise to anybody.
Yorkie
Manu - in a pure footballing sense - deserve credit for not falling flat after we kept nicking in front. As deplorable as certain individuals were for them today (namely the manager), that game and result comes straight out of the Champions handbook. I'll be astonished if they don't win the league. ScottishMagpie
Don't mean to take the silver lining off this but because we've been utter s**** for all this season so far and we were expecting to get a right shafting today which didn't happen....bottom line is we've still come away with hee-haw. ponsaelius
There's absolutely no chance of an English CL winner this season like. I'd put Man U about 10th favourite.
Pilko
I really hope today is a bit of a watershed moment for Pardew and he realises that we can have a go at teams and score goals etc if we set up correctly. So many positives for us to take / the likes of Mick to ignore from today.

Guest neesy111
We'll win more than lose if we play like that rest of the season though we need to tighten up at the back.

That is a fair point...seems strange he'd go to Old Trafford with a valid plan of attack when we went to St. Marys with the exact mirror image. Hope he can follow up with a similar performance at the Library.

If we'd won (or even drawn tbh) there would be no question he'd pick up on that sort of thinking. I hope he does remember how good Man U are and realise that a performance like that would likely win us the game at a canter in about a dozen of the places we have to visit away from home this season. Real will probably put about 7 past us over two legs. We're capable of doing the same to them mind. Barca will bum us eventually no matter how far we get.
