It's not pretty generally but Mark Hughes, on a limited budget, does a decent job. Discuss.

Was thinking about this the other day, Pulis was lauded for finishing 11th with absolutely terrible "football", Hughes is about to top that both in terms of league position and style of football.

Stoke were a mid-table team when Hughes took over. Pulis came in mid-season, to a club in the relegation zone that clapped their team off losing 1-3 at home to Fulham who eventually got relegated. Different expectations.

It looks absolutely nowt like him, man, apart from the trainers.

It looks more like the bloke who is sometimes pictured sat close to Ashley, maybe the potential son in law.

Chronicle reckons it's between McClaren and Carver.

We're in a scenario where Steve McClaren is by far and away the better option ffs. Like being asked to either vote for Farage or Hitler.

80 applicants and now we're down to the créme de la créme.

The 80 applicants included the likes of Micky Quinn mind  Still theres no chance any of them could be as bad as Carver

Someone said yesterday that the Carver rumours were probably leaked by the club themselves so that fans won't set their sights too high. Now when Charnley unveils glamorous Steve McClaren as the new manager and not as feared Carver, everyone will be over the moon rather than underwhelmed.

I highly doubt that anyone will be over the moon like.

Imagine another Premier League club with 50k+ attendances every week being resigned to a choice between an abject failure and dribbling buffoon or a man who will only come here if he fails in his own job at a lower league club?

Be laughable if it wasnt so pathetic.

In regards to McClaren - he took the Derby job to lick his wounds, has he really repaired his reputation though? He was mediocre to poor the last time he was in the Prem, a couple of seasons of continental football aren't gunna change that. Shit choice.
