Jack Flash
Everton (A) Cardiff (A) Liverpool (H) Sunderland (A) Chelsea (H) Tottenham (A) In the next 6 weeks. At least now we know what Kinnear and Ashley were laughing at in the programme.

The only surprise will be the formation and whether we go with 1 or 2 in the middle.

alexf
I know it looks doom and gloom but as we see a lot, there are always surprise results in the prem, just look at today. We got a draw against an inform Everton away last season so it's not impossible but obviously a very tough task. I've got a feeling we may be better suited to play away with the current lineup this season also. So Cardiff and Sunderland aren't out the question for potential wins. I'd guess maybe 4 points from that is realistic. Just shows what an important 3 points today could have been though.
merlin
Under Ashley we are no bigger than Hull/Cardiff or any other bugger tbh. He's in it for the advertising. In that case, its about time the club were getting similar crowds to Hull ,Cardiff or any other bugger as well.....
ExiledGeordie
Got shown up again by his opposite number today. Has no plan B when things turn and we're constantly weaker when in the lead. God knows the number of times I've been to St James to see them jogg out for the second half and play like they're having a kick about on the beach on holiday. Fuck knows what he says to them at halftime. Rubbish
Guest chopey
Pardew's only tactic is for us to play counter attacking, as soon as a team puts Ben Arfa out of the game and matches us in midfield we dont have anywhere to go ..........................and why didnt we put in some sort of offer for Lukaku, JFK should be sacked immediately for missing out on that one. Wallsendmag
Out thought by Steve Bruce which says it all. Should have been sacked last season but sadly I think we'll have to put up with him and his demoralising half time team talks for a while to come. Seriously he'd be better off letting the players just stop on the pitch with an orange each when the ref blows for half time and leave them to discuss things amongst themselves whilst he keeps as far away as possible. ExiledGeordie
Says a lot when someone can't set up a side to attack or defend well and is seemingly completely incapable of anything worthy of a threat at set pieces.
Foluwashola
Shite stuff defensively yesterday. Really shite. Said we needed a minimum of 10 points from the next 6 games pre-West Ham. Think we might scrape that but we're not going be fighting for the top 7/8 with defending like that. Aaful.

ExiledGeordie
I'm glad I missed this. I enjoyed being back at St James and had a great seat bang middle of the Gallowgate but it was the same old shit like last season really. I was very disappointed coming out the ground but having seen similar shite like Reading last season you almost get used to it

samag
It's been said before but Pardew opinions aside, we need to change our coaching set up. I wouldn't be bothered to see Carver or Stone go, we need some fresh ideas. A defensive specialist would be ideal, but at this point anything that freshens up the coaching set up would be welcomed IMO Agree 100% with this... Beren
Pardew's comments on .com have a heavy emphasis on keeping it tight. I suspect the mentality of trying to protect rather than extend the lead had a bearing too?
Gallowgate Toon
He clearly says that the team dropped their level after the goal and he comments on complacency. The tight comments are based around us being very poor when we had to defend, which we will have to do.

Gallowgate Toon
"We started really, really well and got the goal, which is not something we do often at home, get an early goal, and everything looked happy. "We weren’t tight enough as a team today. We were really tight at Villa with the same formation but we were loose today, and Hull exploited those spaces. "I thought all three goals were poor from us - as I say, we defended really, really well in these last few weeks. "Today, it’s the inconsistency of performance that this team is searching for. The team that finished fifth, you see similarities with this team, but that team had a consistency about its performance, as a team, not as individuals. "The formation was the same today, the set-up was the same but we looked not the same. We looked too loose, and gifted goals and you can’t do that against any opposition. "I’ll be the first to pay tribute to Hull, they played very well. But for us, it’s a really disappointing day. It’s the commitment and the quality that you need in every game, that we showed at Villa. "Today, it’s not just the looseness of the team but the distance between our units and our selection of passing wasn’t as great as it has been in the last two or three games. "We weren’t as solid as we were at Villa, and you’ve got to do it home and away in this division.” "We had a day at the office that we would like to forget quite quickly, and move on.”
