@ALS_Fanzine: Heard Phil Bardsley was at WWE in Newcastle tonight, was flashing a few 2-1s as well. Yes! Yes! Yes!

:anguish:

On the screen, they flashed tweets with #WWENewcastle and a couple had 2-1 in them. Monumentally sad b******s.

The grown men who go and watch wrestling?

Is Larsson's horrific attempted leg breaker going to be reviewed or has he got away scot free again ?

Was he booked for it? If so, that'll be it wont it, as ref has seen and dealt with it.

Nah.

Ref gave a free kick though, which means it won't be dealt with.

That rule is fucking retarded.

Didn't they recently remove that rule?

From the Godawful premier league officiating thread:

For the panel to be convened, a referee must still confirm he did not see the incident under review at the time it took place, while his assistants must be considered not to have been in a position to make the right call on his behalf.

The latter represents a slight tweak to the previous rule where all officials had to have no view whatsoever of an incident in order for the FA to begin disciplinary proceedings using video evidence.

So basically, the rule is the same.

Jesus Christ. The irony that they've had to come to newcastle to watch the event they are at clearly lost on them. They really are f***ing bottom feeders. It's the biggest indictment of Pardews reign that these c***s have any bragging rights at all

those inventive, wacky mackems eh. When they sing 'If you hate Newcastle clap your hands' at their games, I always think of 'If you hate Newcastle,  divvent gan'. Hate Newcastle so much that they spend half of their lives there.

I would not employ this man.

Do you work in HR or have the necessary HR qualifications?

Saw the interview with Saint Niall of Pennywell after his latest Wearside canonization. What a fucking arse licking bullshitter he is.

Unsurprisingly macums will be lapping it all up as usual. They really do fall in love with their owners/chairman etc, or indeed anyone who is prepared to say something nice about them.

At most clubs someone who had overseen managerial appointments and spending like he did would have been chased out of town, but throw them a few platitudes and phoney, insincere compliments and you're a legend forever.

Strange people.

Without Niall Quinn we'd probably be somewhere near league one.

Your equivalent would be Newcastle sinking without a trace and Shearer managing to buy the club from Ashley and taking you back up.

Shearer was a good footballer.  Would be more like Paul Kitson buying us and bringing us to the blessed ground of mediocrity.

Appreciate you'll know more about it and be closer to it than I am, but isn't that comparison somewhat distorted and seen through rose tinted specs ?

I know he was credited with brokering ownership deals, but didn't he also recruit and extend the contracts of Bruce and sanction some very dubious spending which may well have been the root cause of the shit you're now in. Ellis Short certainly wanted rid of him.

The Shearer comparison will probably find some sympathy around here but personally I wouldn't want him anywhere near us. Best centre forward in the world at the time but not much good at anything since. A real "legend" though.

I agree he made some poor decisions while here you've cited one of them in extending Bruce's contract. However he always had the best interests of the club at heart. He appointed Keane, backed him, got us back and probably gave us one of the best seasons in my time as a ST holder. He gave us Drumaville and then found someone with a lot more cash when he could take us no further. He's also done a lot of good work in the community. The hospital wing paid for with the proceeds of his testimonial being a good example.

I'll concede that he is a shit commentator like.

Niall Quinn was also a good footballer. Albeit nowhere near Shearer but he did manage to form one half of the best front two I've seen at Sunderland. Not saying much as we've won nowt for ages but I'm only 23. Hopefully there's still time...

Phillips was certainly one of the best strikers the PL has ever seen. Quinn was a bit of a plank, but in fairness it worked quite well.

Today's papers saying that Dortmund offered Sunderland 5m for Ji in the summer. DiCanio turned it down and got rid of Sessegnon instead, thinking he could turn Ji into one of the leagues best strikers

Amazing that Borussia Dortmund thinking Ji is worth £5m is the second most ridiculous opinion in those two sentences.

I know it's become the norm for NE journalists to sweep things under the carpet and be all sugary sweet with Sunderland managers, but it would be interesting if someone asked Poyet if the horrendous tackles, intended to maim opponents in consecutive games, is just a coincidence or whether it's part of his rescue plan ?
