Agreed - but the mackems will say as far as they knew, he was pleading not guilty. It's more to do with him being one of their best players and also given their position. I realise they could be different counts of the same type of offence, like 12 seperate counts of burglary but it seems strange to word them differently. Thing is, if Sunderland had stated from the outset that Johnson was innocent until proven guilty and that he would continue to play for them as normal until a verdict had been made, I doubt many would have taken objection to it. It's the fact that they suspended him first, then rescinded it as soon as Advocaat realised how bad their squad was that makes them look really bad in all of this imo.
