Obviously we shouldn't sign Crouch, but he's been a much better player than those mentioned.

?

The likes of Carlton Cole.

As in employed and/or far too old for us? Didnt think it would need spelling out that Crouch is a better footballer than Grant fucking holt like :anguish:

fell from sky reckons he wont be the last english signing 'definite shift towards homegrown players'.

Wouldnt be against Byram or that Wolves FB mind. Havent seen any Championship games to know a decent Cb but cant think of many strikers(Austin aside) who would be worth a go regularly from the off

Byram's a no-brainer, should be all over him before someone else snaps him up.

Well if it helps you to stick up for him in an argument that doesnt exist then good for you. Back in reality it was simply dismissing suggestions we would sign a 35 year old.

Chill Roger, just saying.

Consistently the most argumentative poster

f***ing Crouch. Down there with Carlton Cole and Grant Holt as pointless suggestions

I think that's a bit harsh personally. He's far better than both of those and way ahead of Bendtner.

Was just wondering as he is obviously out of favour/down the pecking order at Stoke, and on a short term deal for the rest of the season I'm surprised we/or someone else hasn't had a sniff.

Hes 35 in three weeks man

Re Bendtner, always loved this

http://en.espn.co.uk/football/sport/story/72181.html

Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner has scored highly in 'self-perceived competence' after the Gunners' sport psychologist Jacques Crevoisier revealed that the Dane's mark was off the scale.

Bendtner has made several comments in the media over the years highlighting his belief in himself and many have suggested that his confidence borders on arrogance. However, Arsenal use psychological tests to determine their players' mental abilities in relation to their footballing qualities and the striker is certainly not lacking in one area.

"One of the categories is called 'self perceived competence,' i.e. how good the player himself thinks he is,'' Crevoisier told Swedish magazine Offside. ''On a scale up to 9, Bendtner got 10! We have never seen that before. Pat Rice [Arsenal's assistant manager] was sitting next to me and couldn't stop laughing.

"When Bendtner misses a chance, he is always genuinely convinced that it wasn't his fault. You might say that's a problem, and to a certain degree it can be. But you can also view it as this guy has a remarkable ability to come back after set-backs."

The test is made-up of 117 questions designed to test players' self-belief, concentration levels and determination and is overseen by Crevoisier, who specialises in working with young French players at France's Clairefontaine academy as well as the Gunners' stars.

 That's fantastic. Would also explain why he hasn't improved one iota.

If Townsend is coming in it probably safe to say we are shifting sissoko this window. I think that's a big gamble. While andros is probably a much better and natural winger our right side works fine with sissoko and Janmaat, could be dangerous changing our only tracking outlet that works. That said maybe he wants to deploy townsend on the left.

"It's safe to assume we are shifting Sissoko" on what basis? We've constantly stated we want him here, he's clearly our best player and there's literally no interest. It'll be Marv Gouff or Obertan back to France. I bet Marv's wages are shockingly high

Would be kinda nice to have a player or two at least on the periphery of the England team. Might make me give a fuck about international football again.

Also nice to sign a couple of players who actually have a real desire to be here.  Assuming reports in the press are true anyway (with both saying they didn't want to go to Palace or West Brom and wanted to come here instead)

Still not a fan of Townsend like, but perhaps if he gets the move he wants he can make a new start and do well, same goes for Shelvey :dontknow:
