Anon
Austin will go to the 'ammers few mates were at Alberts talk in on Friday, said an SSN presenter (fuck knows who) just told him there's no chance 'as his wife wont move up here'. If true, that's a sad state of affairs Also said we're offering decent wedge for 'players' but the don't want to sign. Not sure I believe this It's happened before where players haven't moved north because their wives wouldn't have it, it's not really a reflection of the club's stature, just a reflection of how shallow some WAG's are these days. Likewise with players who aren't jumping at the chance to sign for us. It depends on which other clubs are sniffing around. If Southampton or Swansea are beating us to these players then there's reason to worry. If it's Liverpool or Chelsea, not so much. Bit rich when most of them live off their money. Cronky
Despite the talk about buying British, I can see us going continental again, if these quoted prices are accurate. £15m for Austin, £20m for Berahino? Surely for that money we can get better players from overseas.

Of course we are going continental or from the lower leagues, when did we last buy an established premier league player, im discounting Colback he was on a free, Kevin Nolan in 08/09? although now I doubt a proven premier league player would want to rock up to this utter shambles. joeyt
Albert Adomah was watched by Newcastle towards the end of last season and is the subject of a potential bid according to the Ghanaian press. The right winger/attacking midfielder is reported to have impressed, when watched by Newcastle scouts as Middlesbrough defeated Brentford in the semi-finals of the end of season play-offs. Born in London but a Ghana international via his family background, Adomah came through non-league football before joining Barnet and Bristol City, before Middlesbrough paid around £1m for him two years ago. Part of Ghana’s squad at the World Cup in Brazil (started one game and came on as a sub in another), Albert Adomah has impressed in his two seasons on Teesside. The 27 year old made 46 Championship appearances for Middlesbrough last season as they failed at the last hurdle to make it into the Premier League. Adomah scored 6 league goals to go with the 12 he notched the season before, leading to these reports of a supposed Newcastle move, along with Spurs and Watford who are also credited with interest in taking the winger into the Premier League for the first time. Like all transfer speculation we will believe it when we see it but Newcastle are increasingly being linked with players from the Championship, despite claims of serious interest in signing Premier League players. With only 11 days until pre season training starts and 7 weeks until the Premier League kicks off, Newcastle still await their first signing of the summer.
