Ikon
Straight swap was mentioned yesterday, cannot see it happen, but him going there on loan sounds more likely if anything. OM need players so it's not impossible that they demand Cabella on loan. Told by who? withabrick..
healthyaddiction
Withabrick has a pretty good hit record with this stuff right? La Provence say it's a final bid so it could easily just be turned down but seems an extremely generous offer to me given a year ago Cabella's reputation was quite a bit higher than Thauvin. All over twitter than: According to @laprovence, Newcastle have made a final offer of €17m + Cabella loan for Thauvin.

I might be wrong but I'd have thought signing Wijnaldum, and maybe Mitrovic, might change some players minds about the club perhaps.

That's a good point, I also reckon a substantial pay increase may sweeten the deal.

Guest
"Injured" I'd take a Thauvin/Cabella swap mind, we need wide players and have 2-3 who can play off a striker.

That's my general view of this. Though I'd hope any loan to Marseille wouldn't have an auto buy clause.
Skeletor
We need to keep Cabella. If this happened we'd only have Thauvin and an inexperienced and possibly injury prone Aarons before we're relying on the Uncle Fester twins again.
Tiresias
It'd be ok I guess but we could just end up with the situation of Thauvin needing time to get used to the league, Cabella should have toughened up a bit and under better management could still come good. It'd be more of a gamble than keepign Cabella imo.

Ikon
How much was it we were quibbling over the first time we failed to buy him, couple of million €? Yeah something like that. Imagine if he had signed for us and "played" under Pardew. He would be sitting at Mcdonalds in Nice with Hatem
Dave
I'd not be that arsed if we replaced Cabella. Hasn't shown much IMO. Replacing players isn't really something we do though.
BeloEmre
I'd not be that arsed if we replaced Cabella. Hasn't shown much IMO. Agree with you, but still i would hate it if we got rid of Cabella now. There is a good player in him and i would really want to see him get a chance under McClaren.
Ikon
He has better pace and acceleration than Cabella, but also a questionable attitude. Probably more suited to play really wide. Most punchable face ever as well
Ikon
Linked with Mario Lemina as well. Central midfielder (defensive)
healthyaddiction
It's funny how McClaren emphasised getting the right personalities but the two players we seem to be most in for right now are known for having pretty poor attitudes.

Yeah i've been thinking the same. Maybe he also means people that have the kind of character that makes them able to perform at the big stage as well. It's just buzzwords man, the clubs used to crow on about doing extensive scouting to get the right personalities. That'll be why Cabaye, Sissoko, Ben Arfa, and the rest have been model professionals. The only transfer condition is whether there is a decent chance their value goes up in 1-2 years for selling.
