Deuce
It almost seems inevitable that the U.S. will draw Ghana. And lose to them in spectacular fashion in Game 3. triggs
Vickery calling Uruguay too experienced the cheek - as though Lampard and Gerrard won't be dying in the heat Uruguay will win that group. Italy are always underrated

JH
So England-Italy is 2am on a Monday morning? Saturday morning I think. Just checked, and the Beeb have it as Sunday morning. aye - game is on 14th June - 10pm Brazil time so it'll actually be 15th June UK time.

ponsaelius
Uruguay were nothing special in qualifying and have looked poor for 18 months or so, too many aging players. Italy are the strongest side in the group, England could get through over Uruguay.

Flip
Uruguay were nothing special in qualifying and have looked poor for 18 months or so, too many aging players. Italy are the strongest side in the group, England could get through over Uruguay. Uruguay had a decent Confederations Cup just 5 months ago. Qualifying is always difficult when you have to play in altitude against 4 of the 9 teams and the other two are Colombia and Argentina. Not saying they played well or so, but I see them as favourites. If Lodeiro plays I can see them winning that group.

Klaus
Assuming we did qualify, is the next stage random? or do for example the runners up of group A play the winners of group B etc?

The only time I've seen them play well in the last 2 years was the semi against Brazil, their midfield is too limited and defence is creaking. People are dazzled by their strikers but they're a safety first team who just sort of let the strikers get on with it. England are stronger than them in most areas. Fair assessment, but they were decent against Spain as well.
