“If we can get a win or maybe score the first goal that will give us a boost and we can kick on form there. We’re far from finished in the league.

“You need to stand tall and be strong.

“Particularly at a club like this because it’s a tough club to play for, Hopefully, we can show that resilience to get a result.”

I sit next to a Liverpool fan at work who just won't hear a single negative word about Pardew from me, and thinks I've been overreacting for the better part of 2 years about how much I fucking hate this fucking clown.

The idea I get from him is that we are where we belong, he doesn't understand why Newcastle fans expect more.

Are all fucking neutral fans this thick?

COMMENT: How Sunderland and Newcastle have made it fun up north... for visiting clubs!

ROLL up, roll up for the trip of a lifetime.

Well not quite. Perhaps a more accurate slogan should be 'visit the north east and come away with three easy points.'

Champions League hopefuls Everton must be licking their lips at the prospect of facing Sunderland on Wearside tomorrow. Let's face it, everyone wins there.

And while Welsh duo Cardiff and Swansea have hardly excelled on their travels this season, at least they can both look forward with confidence to trips to both St James's Park and the Stadium of Light in the coming weeks - the top flight's most welcoming, generous venues.

The region was once known as a hotbed of football talent. It's more like a sickbed these days.

Forgive the sarcasm, the angst and yes, the despair. Covering Premier League football up here does that to you.

Newcastle, Sunderland and Middlesbrough have provided some memorable highlights during the last 15 years.

But right now, one team is going nowhere, another going down while the third has virtually vanished off the football map.

While Boro may be languishing in the Championship no-man's land, they've managed to eclipse their more high-profile neighbours in modern times, winning a League Cup and reaching a major European final.

And at least they've won a couple of games this past fortnight. Newcastle and Sunderland have forgotten that feeling altogether.

The Magpies are safe and will probably finish in the top half of the table but that's where the good news ends.

Since Yohan Cabaye left in January, they've shown relegation form. Only one side have mustered less points than Alan Pardew's flagging side over the last 10 games and that's... you've guessed it, Sunderland.

But even rock-bottom Sunderland haven't shipped 23 goals and lost six games by margins of three goals or more over that period.

Got only knows how bad that stat will become by May

What a prize cunt he is.  Is that what he shouts from the sideline "Stand Tall Hatem", "Be strong Anita!", "Get the first Goal Luuk"

Also, this tough 'club to play for' shit is offensive on so many levels.  Just fcuk off with your conveyor belt of pre, during & post match excuses you pathetic excuse for a cunt.

Really, awful quotes from a very poor manager.

I'm pretty confident that is indeed the sort of thign he shouts to the players from the sideline.

No real instructions or pointers, just empty meaningless rhetoric.

Why would the manager of a football club EVER say "this is a tough club to play for" ?!!!!

He's excusing the poor performances from the players, as the fault of the pressure from the fans, which is a result of playing for the club.

Again ducking responsibility for the awful job he's doing.

Why would the manager of a football club EVER say "this is a tough club to play for" ?!!!!

Because he's way out of his depth. He's always been scared of this job.

He thinks it's a tough club to manage, but it sounds better and makes sense to him to put it on the players. A fucking terrible manager who never should be managing in Premier League. Way out of his depth.

He is trying to downsize the club to his level of ability and expectation - unfortunately for us, many fans have accepted this brainwashing and the media are quite happy to see us where they think we belong...mid-table at best. They have never got over the shock that we gave them from 1993-97...

...and 2001-2005 (however we did get to Wembley 3 times in 3 years inbetween (98,99,2000))

Are people forgetting that this is the same Alan Pardew that took us to fifth place? Has this just been forgotten?

So by my count Pards has had one amazing season, one bad season and one OK season.

He needs at least another season and probably another two where he is genuinley backed by Mike before we can judge him properly.

Really hope the fans don't make his job even harder this weekend... He needs the fans more than ever right now for the rest of this season!

He's telling everybody who will listen how tough the job is for him and that he's doing a good job under difficult circumstances. In other words, he's lying.

There was a good call on Total Sport last night, where the caller was complaining about Mick Lowes post match interview with Pardew on Saturday, and accused Lowes of letting him off lightly, and almost feeding Pardew the answers to his questions.

The presenters basically cut him short as they said 'Lowes wasn't there to defend himself (cop out), but it was good that the issue was raised on the show.

Also, Steve Howey was sitting in for Anderson, and the difference in what he had to say, compared to Anderson was incredible - someone with no current connection to the club, or press pass being able/prepared to say how many other fans are seeing things, was very refreshing.

Really don't think downsize is the right word, if anything he's making the club out to be a bigger challenge than it "should" be. Not that it makes much difference.
