Stating the obvious is always painful -

Fucking guy still didn't get sacked after that run-in last season.

 Remember the optimism after that game? "They're going to make a big deal about it! Maybe he'll get sacked!"

:yao: He's never leaving.

There isn't a single fucking match I'm looking forward to. The highlight of the season is the hope that he goes.

But he's going to be here next year, and the year after that. One day they'll announce that he's up for an extension. That's when we'll realize he's here until he retires.

Am I right in thinking we had Cabaye for this entire season?

Just checking. I thought we did.

We got relegated just 3 years before this, what more do you want?

?

It was a dig at some Pardew apologist saying we have done well with our league finishes because we got relegated 5 years ago

These last few pages  :cheesy:

Its pretty obvious to anyone who knows a decent amount about football that if we got our act together we should be at least a top 6 side and at least challenging for cups.

Forgot about this oh but we we were relegated 6 years ago crap, we still had a top squad and were in the top 5 in the UK for attendance's throughout the championship, strolling the championship accordingly. Again forgot about the myth that we can't compete with other clubs finances until very recently we were one of the worlds 20 richest clubs, in the richest league in the world and again getting some of the highest attendance's in the league.

Yes Ashley has to take a lot of the blame as he hasn't invested anywhere near enough but for whatever reason the level of players we can still attract is still high and we are still picking up some of the best european youth prospects. In fact each year (when we spend) we are actually picking up better and better players and yet this doesn't correspond on the pitch.

One of our player leaves and all of a sudden we have no creativity, can't score goals and can't defend, something doesn't add up. That something Pardew. We concede one goal and we are f***ed. In fact if we score before 70 minutes we are f***ed as we will sit back and hope we get the result "over the line". Pardew's sole tactic is get it in the mixer and hope for some magic, he belongs in league 1 at best (in fact he was pie'd off when he was in league 1).

The guy's s***, has always been s*** and will be s*** next season. We will scrape 10th due to some individual brilliance and the odd result were we scrape by,  sell a couple of our "purples", Pardew will stay and the cycle will repeat.

Such as?

Like I have said, about 15 times, I do not defend his tactics or his style of play. We have spent pretty much +-0 pounds in the last 5 years so if you consider that we are somehow still in fricking EPL where eveyone is splashing cash left, right and center. And this sentence doesn't mean AP has done great job, but it is a fact that Mike doesn't want to spend.

At least a top 6 side?  :idiot2: on our better times under Sir Bobby yes, not with the current owner and the situation with the big clubs. They don't even look to spend reasonably. Ffs Everton paid about 30 million for Lukaku? We are not going to spend anywhere near that kind of money.

Everton don't even look to spend reasonably. Everton have spent nothing more than the giant truck full of cash that Sky parked outside their ground, after years of penny pinching. That's perfectly reasonable.

It's true that Ashley won't even spend that. What's also true however is that Martinez has shown he can get excellent performances and results with a squad that was cheaply assembled and wasn't even his, so your point is worth little. Ashley's main problem with cost is the bizarre refusal to pay a real manager.

How much was Atletico's squad btw?

Can't stand this new breed of football fan that believes all the results are somehow pre-determined by the wage bill of each club. Awful defeatism before even getting on the field.

Agree with all apart from us being "at least" a top 6 side, its true that with a better manager we would be challenging for it, but there are a lot of good teams with good managers being backed up there at the moment.

We could finish 10th for the next 3 seasons under this bellend and fans would still be bleating on about it being a "cracking season" and a "realistic finish"

I don't know what people expect from Pardew? Ignoring his off the pitch antics,  he hasn't actually done that bad a job really

11/12: 5th place out of nowhere

12/13: Europa League QFs with a thin squad picking up countless injuries

13/14: Top 10 finish last season while having his best player Cabaye sold and not replaced

But that doesn't go down well because the reality of NUFC not having the resources to compete is so depressing.

If you want to blame someone, blame Ashley for not freeing up more funds. Blame Kinnear for being useless. Blame the marketing team for not being able to secure more lucrative sponsorships to compete with the big boys.

Pardew, while not perfect, has done what is expected of him in my eyes

Okay, let's make things interesting.

What would constitute Pardew failing in your eyes? Not in Ashley's eyes, in your's.

Being amongst those in contention for the drop. The situation 2 years ago was forgivable because of a paper thin squad riddled with injuries and a lengthy European run but wouldn't be now. With the likes of Villa, West Brom, Sunderland, Burnley and Palace not pulling up any trees in the transfer market, it would be significant underachievement to be near the bottom.

the bit i've bolded is what's got me about pardew ever since he pitched up at the club - nothing is ever anything to do with him when it goes badly and this is the prime example of that; go on one of the worst runs in the clubs entire top flight history because one player is sold?  get to fuck man...it's his job not to make that happen ffs...he was totally and utterly responsible for what happened after cabaye was sold just as he was largely responsible for us almost getting relegated the season before with his fucking awful team selections and cowardly tactics

said it months ago and i stand by it, he's the worst manager i've seen at the club bar none

Their net spend over the last 3 years is about £2m. They've barely touched the Sky money. Looking on that transfer league website actually, out 'net spend' is pretty much the same as Everton since promotion.

This is one of the first times since we've came back up actually (apart from maybe after we finished 5th) where the media aren't expecting us to struggle. Most of the Pre Season prediction articles have us 8th, 9th worst, so can imagine he will come under pressure if we don't start well.

Paper thin? We signed five players in January, all of very good calibre. Europe? We played as many games as many other teams as we crashed out of both domestic cups almost immediately.

We hit more long-balls than any other team in Europe's top 5 leagues. Cissé and Shola were played on the wing. We won away from home twice. We conceded more goals in the Premier League than we've ever done before. We lost more Premier League games than when we went down.

It wasn't forgivable.

You're on the take mate. Arsenal had a net spend of 0 for the past 8 years before last seaons and were in the Champions League every season. What's your point?
