I think there have been a lot of people on here that have wanted Alan Pardew to do well because that means the club would do well. I think the same people have also clung on to the very few glimmers of hope in odd performances that Pardew could change or get things right. Waiting to things to finally gel. How hard could it be after Hughton had us looking legitimately dangerous and feeding strikers crosses?

Well its been 3 1/2 years and we have never looked consistently fluid or dangerous coming forward. Our defence improved considerably and has disintegrated over the past year and a half. We have had possibly the most talented squad certainly in the last decade or more of technical and creative players, young players with upside. Think what SBR could have done with the squad we had starting this season.

Pardew should have gone last year in January. It was a given he should have been sacked at the end of the season. He still remains and continues to drag this club lower. Maybe I could take all this if we played with heart and attacked games. Maybe I could take this if our players looked like they were improving and just need time to grow. Fact is we are going backwards on both points.

He HAS to go.

I agree with all you've said but the likelihood of him going any time soon is remote.

He suits Ashley's purpose and has almost achieved the stated aim of the board/owner which is PL safety...by default and mainly because we borrowed Remy and Cabaye decided to show prospective buying clubs what he could do. He has bought himself and Ashley time and only if a series of disastrous home defeats occur in succession is Ashley going to feel any need to fire him.

I am still not convinced that Ashley will still own the club after the summer because everything that is happening now smacks of preparation for exit strategy and if he does go, Pardew's position is not going to be his problem unless any buyer insists he goes as part of the deal. If he stays, we will still have this con man as manager at the start of next season unless we fall away so badly in the next 3 months that attendances start to drop seriously.

Ashley once again is paying for being a chancer...he gave Pardew an 8 year contract on the advice of Llambias and as with everything else he gets involved with, he hates to admit he was wrong and have to pay the guy out for getting rid of him. A look at Pardew's record in the past would have sent enough red flags to any club owner with half a brain, but we all know Ashley's record for taking chances...his 100m loss during the early days of the GFC was a gamble that failed and look what we could have done with THAT for the team.

No, Pardew looks pretty safe for at least 3 months and probably longer.

Not sure what the first part of the sentence has got to do with the second. Was Carr passing on fake insider tips?

AP is not the major problem, the owners are the first thing we should fix.

Until the owner goes, nothing major will change but there is just a hope that a better manager might make things a bit more tolerable in the meantime....

He's doing a great job for Ashley. Once again, the nation's leading football journalists were lining up to praise the great job he's doing on the Sky Sports Sunday Supplement.

Praise a manager who has won one in seven and lost the last two 3-0

imho his tendency to be ahead of the game with his excuses really, really works on a lot of people...he's talking about how hard he's got it at every opportunity and when journalists come to talk about us that's what's in their minds, same as with a lot of fans

We haven't scored a goal in 9 games this season (36% of the total games) and can only see this percentage getting higher. We are going to need to buy some good players in the Summer but we all know we will only do just enough to get by. Doesn't help when you have someone like Pardew in charge who is more interested in keeping things tight and not attacking teams.

From the outside if you take an overview it does look like Pardew has done well this season

It probably does when you only look at league position and listen to the shit he comes out with.

Done well is a stretch.

We are where we should be at present average league position and poor cup performances makes this a 5/10 season

You just need to see the reactions in the Sacking thread to when Clarke & Laudrup were sacked for that. From the outside looking in, it looks like they're doing a good job, but when you analysed their last 12 months performances and how close to a relegation battle they were, you can see why they were sacked. Other clubs will look at Pardew and us and think he's doing well, but they don't see us week-in, week-out.

The gist of it was we are still 8th despite losing our best players because of our selling policy and that is because of Pardew's skillful management. So yes, they think pretty much the same as the majority of our fans I would say. Which works out perfectly for Ashley, because as long as he's got an acceptable buffer figure like pards then there's no reason for him to do anything other than carry on flogging.

I would take Moyes when he is given the sack at the end of the season.

8th in the league but we have a coach probably ranked in the bottom 5.
