Newcastle United 0 - 2 Man City - 12/01/14 - Post-match reaction from page 41

Haven't checked it but someone said yesterday that our midfield four (Cabaye was assumed to be starting as a 10) cost 10 million pounds to assemble and theirs cost 120 million. Quite amazing. Probably be something similar if you did defence and forwards too.

Just watched MOTD's view on the 'goal', they all agree that the ref is wrong. The only person who says otherwise is Pellegrini.

Surprisingly enough mackems dont think it was a goal

Yeah, but he's just an old cunt who doesn't understand the new offside rule.

Tbf they also think Mapou should get a 2 year suspended sentance and 100 hours of community work for the Nasri incident.

Made the mistake of looking on the Blue Moon forum this morning. City fans usually seem fairly level headed but loads of them are calling it an assault, comparing it to the Ben Thatcher incident and saying it should be referred to the CPS. Fuck off

Also it's not even close to being as a dangerous tackle as Ben Arfa. Really unlucky for Nasri if he's done his knee badly because while it's a high swing, it's almost never going to hurt anyone. Purely professional foul in my eye.

You need to take a look at the Daily Mail take on the tackle, they are calling it an assault and using several photos from different angles claiming that Mapau made two separate contacts with Nasri's knee to ensure he was properly injured.  Fucksake, they are country men, the last thing he would want is one of the key French players out of the world cup squad....

I think we are lucky that Jones was as card happy during the game and called the tackle a yellow at the time, if he had not "seen it" I think it would be safe to assume that we would be staring down the barrel of a lengthy ban to Mapau....  Trial by media opinion.....

There was a situation in the first half after Tiote got Yaya where Yaya went in hard at Tiote twice from behind. Mike Jones didn't give a freekick or advantage. Yaya could've easily been booked, seriously don't see how MBiwa could've been close to a red card there. It's as clear as a yellow can be in my eyes. Zabaleta could've easily been off, he doesn't touch Santon but if the rules are consistent then he should've had a second yellow considering Debuchy won the ball last week. (which was a moronic tackle btw)

The way the game was being refereed - to be fair - both teams were lucky to finish with 11 players on the field.

Cabaye was sailing very close to a second booking and would have been off in any other game.......  Same with Zabaleta and others...

It's easy to say the game was getting out of control but the catalyst for that was the referees gross incompetence in ruling out a legitimate goal.

Forgot to write that, if anything Cabaye should've been off. Not MBiwa. Cabaye does lose his temper way too often.
