beautifulgame
Sure Gareth Barry to Liverpool was constant throughout a summer. De Gea to R.Madrid was awful a few seasons ago and is still ongoing Barry to Liverpool wasnt that Probably lasted a month before we dropped our interest. Rafa wanted to sell Xabi Alonso (gulp) and replace him with Barry. IIRC Wenger as usual bulked at the asking price £12mil for Alonso and ended their interest in him.So luckily for us Rafa decided to keep Alonso and Barry transfer fell though. It was ridiculous and wierd on so many levels.

Tiresias
After all this Coutinho saga, I still think he's only a good player, not a world beater but one who flatters to deceive. Mikhtarian already is only 2 shy of the number of assists Coutinho got all of last season after 3 games.
Guest
Vieira to Real Madrid used to be an annual thing. Not forgetting N'Zogbia to Sunderland.

Pretty sure in an interview Rafa says people used to question why he wanted to sell Alonso and he said he didn't want to sell him.but he had no money to spend to had to raise funds. 54
Didn't realise Matuidi had gone to Juve. For £18M that might be the best deal of the summer.

The College Dropout
Think Bakayoko might prove to be an upgrade on Matic. I don't think Conte is one for much rotation and I agree that he seems to like players that are 100% committed to the cause. At a club like Real there's probably 3 or 4 players not happy with playing time at any given time and the manager needs to deal with it - it's a big part of the job - Conte doesn't seem to want to deal with it. Matic would be 4th choice CM (behind Fabregas), don't think Conte wanted to deal with that. Drinkwater would be a happier 4th choice. Without Costa they look light upfront that's the big issue imo. Arsenal have had a mare and have clearly zero interest in winning the league
xLiaaamx
Arsenal are probably balancing on a very thin rope right now. Can see them falling away big style, they look so ordinary.

Drinkwater would be a happier 4th choice. Matic wasn't behind Fabregas for most of last season for what it's worth Aye but they're different types of players so they aren't really in competition. Conte goes for Fabregas when he wants a more expansive game. He goes Matic and now Bakayoko if he wants to keep it tight. If Bakayoko is the #1 partner for Kante - Fabregas is the option for a more pronounced change of tact. Matic would largely be relegated to "last 15 minutes - extra defensive midfielder to protect a small lead" position.

Astroblack
Kinda feel for Danny Drinkwater with all these pundits talking about average players going for 35 million. Theyre obviously talking about him.
Village Idiot
According to our president, Messi's dad (his agent) already signed the new contract back in June. Only Messi's signature is missing but they will get it done "in the coming weeks". To be frank, I don't doubt that he'll sign. Even if he ends up walking at the end of the season because we suck, he won't do it on a free.
Dinho lad
It would be a tragedy if Messi signed for someone like City.
