Interpolic
Just out of interest then Cranky...what do you think of wor Jacky boi? He's the greatest player to pull on the black and white since Sammy Ameobi.
themanupstairs
defensive midfield player making no effort to get back, when they are attacking. why's he even on the pitch ffs. Because we clearly need the jordie passhun to stay further up-field at times.
Newcastle Fan
He reminds me so much of Nicky Butt, nowhere to be seen when we are attacking, nowhere to be seen when we are defending, where the f*** does he go??

He's a coward who thinks he's made it because he knows the crowd will give him all the slack he needs. Won the lottery when we had al pards as manager looking for a strapping Geordie lad to take on the local pacifier role. Just shows how little anyone running NUFC understands about NUFC fans, and that includes braindead fools like Carver and Stone.

The majority of our fans are idiots. I would love him too if he actually had any ability. The majority of our fans can't see that he has none. I'm all for having local lads who can actually play football over foreigners any day because they should, in theory, put in that extra 5% of thunder that might bring some f***ing hope and joy to the soulless pit that SJP has become. The College Dropout
Your original point is incorrect. The Geordie trick has worked a trick from a PR perspective.
themanupstairs
Your original point is incorrect. The Geordie trick has worked a trick from a PR perspective. Which was exactly what I said. It worked from a PR point of view but not a footballing one. Fans rarely turn against individual players en masse, especially inside the stadium, so they'll definitely not turn against good Geordie lad Jack. But they still display frustration and anger towards a bad football side that includes Colback.

That's going to be a big problem, especially if McClaren doesn't have the balls to drop a local lad.

Pilko
He reminds me so much of Nicky Butt, nowhere to be seen when we are attacking, nowhere to be seen when we are defending, where the f*** does he go?? The difference is that Butt's legs were completely shot, so he was pretty much confined to the centre circle. Colback is 8 or 9 years younger than Butt when we had him, and actively hides from the ball at times. Butt was incredibly limited and the definition of flogging a dead horse, but he never hid. M4
Also given Colback's ability to judge the flight of a ball, he will never be able to give us an overhead kick.

Altamullan
Apologies for 'off-message' posting, but Gini's inefective performance in deeper CM role against Sheff Wed, made me wish Colback was playing.

It's hardly surprising seeing as he has never played in a deep midfield 2 and is totally new to the English game. This is exactly why I was hesitant about suggesting to play him deeper too early, could ruin him for us.

Either in prime Tiote mould or Cabaye mould. I'm not averse to a flat midfield 3 or a 4-1-4-1 though.
mozy
Because he fits the model of being young, talented with potential sell on value. And I hope because he fitted into whatever McClaren wanted to build as his first XI here.

Guest firetotheworks
Way less hateful than usual and actually effective. In this scenario, naturally he went off injured for Obertan. It's his sort of match though, there's no wholesale change in him for me.

BONTEMPI
Has to play against the Mackems! I so want to see that 3-1 sign again when he concedes two penalties and scores an own goal.
