His record company / management have a marketing budget to support the promotion of his new album

 

Part of that budget has been spent on sponsoring our shirts in the league cup, which worked out very well given that we only went and won the bloody thing

Bet there's a canny few buy them to wear at his SJP shows in June

 

Could imagine my lasses work friends rushing out to buy one to wear at the gigs. And they're all Facebook Karen's with minimal interest in football

Well, its clearly linked to the new album and stadium shows next month, but in PSR terms, every little helps, innit.

And he was previously only taking up the space used by the NU Foundation beforehand, so presumably SF paid for it, too?

I mean that's what... at least 3 different versions of the 'replica/fans' shirts already at £80-90 each???

That above does seem a bit OTT now though, as it's is clearly aimed as concert merch?

The info on the sponsorship deal with the cup shirts is below, the latest shirt release is just aimed at his fans and people going to his shows

Fender fans will deffo buy it, not sure anyone who isn't a Fender fan will think "oh aye, I simply must get that shirt that Sam and his band wore on stage in Berlin the night we won the Carabao"

 

Unique Newcastle United shirts worn during the club's Carabao Cup quarter-final clash with Brentford will be auctioned in aid of community projects as part of a special collaboration with Sam Fender.

 

The shirts worn by the Magpies' first team players will feature a bespoke design on the reverse promoting the singer's highly anticipated third album, 'People Watching', which will be released in February 2025.

 

Following Wednesday's match, a limited number of the team's shirts will be signed before being auctioned to raise money for the club's official charity, Newcastle United Foundation.

 

A boyhood Newcastle United fan, North Shields-born Sam has become a North East icon and is set to return to St. James' Park for three sold-out tour dates next summer - just two years after thrilling capacity crowds at the stadium with two sensational shows.

 

Commenting on the exclusive collaboration shirts, Newcastle United's Chief Commercial Officer, Peter Silverstone, said: "Newcastle United and Sam Fender have become symbols of pride for the region and play to global audiences. It's a great match, and it's another opportunity to connect with Sam in a creative way which will excite our supporters and benefit the community.

 

"The anticipation for Sam's concerts at St. James' Park continues to build and not only does this allow us to promote his latest album, it gives us another opportunity to offer supporters a piece of Newcastle United history with the auction donations going to support the incredible work that Newcastle United Foundation continues to do across the region."

Sound like a mackem here but by all accounts Fender had zero interest in football until the takeover either. Fair play to him as he's obviously not daft and cashed in massively on it .

There'll be people who still pay the money for it. But I reckon had they priced it closer to actual concert merch which is overpriced anyway, even a bit more, say £45, they'd sell tons for the gigs.

 

But another £90 for that is just crackers. :idiot2:

He's always been a Newcastle fan and there's loads of pics of him in Newcastle shirts in the years before we were taken over. There's even pics of him outside SJP on his 2019 album cover

 

He's not obsessed with football and he loves music, Star Wars and computer games more than NUFC, but he's supported Newcastle all his life
