All these comments have me wondering if I just made up the reaction I thought it got. I liked it but had it in my head that it got consistently shit on for the centralising of the crest and Adidas logo and the shield being a bit OTT. I was like 8 years old and the other end of the country though. I remember a lot of people thinking that the shield looked shit and was an obvious trick to get people to spend more on a name and number.

HaydnNUFC
It's an iconic kit but I've never liked central crests for some reason.

Lush Vlad
Itchy collar. Shield on the back meaning you kind of needed a name and number or it looked odd. I had it. But was never a big fan. I liked the away kit that got panned that year. Was that the one we never won in? Blue, green and orange.

Yeah never won in the away, I think it looks better when seen now, probably helped as not paired with green shorts.

And it did have a variant with black shorts and black socks. this is the perfect kit from adidas in modern times. There’s no random paneling template nonsense either. Properly great shirt. Yorkie
I got the full 97-99 kit for Christmas. Shorts were shiny and like a two-tone stripe iirc. It was an epic kit tbf, not among the very best, but still special.

SEMTEX
Has anyone seen this hat in the flesh: https://shop.newcastleunited.com/products/newcastle-united-new-era-retro-9forty The blurb says "Featuring the maroon and navy colours seen on the retro shirt with a black Newcastle United Club crest in the middle, this cap is a must-have for fans to sport on matchdays and beyond." But that's not fuckin maroon like is it? It's red and blue. Want to know if shit hat or shit photographer.

Remake that kit, place the 3 stripes on the shoulder if need be for current branding guidelines; give me stripes on back with red #'s for the PL; then block white or black for Europe. plain black shorts, plain black socks with white alts for both. Id legitimately acquire the full kit.
SEMTEX
MASSIVE black felt patch for CL works for me boss. Assuming we make the CL this year. Which seems all but guaranteed.

On the look out for a johns Anderson all stars green one to get a blue star on. That Luton Town one would look belter with a stitched on number on the back. Number 9 for Billy Whitehurst. Harry 209
Not much happening in the Black Friday sale compared to the Castore years. 20% off the home and away replica but nowt off any authentic or 3rd shirts. The rest is the burgundy training stuff. There isn't even a single deal on any of the dad stuff! This suggests business is very healthy from the merchandise point of view. https://shop.newcastleunited.com/collections/black-friday Edited November 26 by Harry

I’m sure the shirts didn’t get reduced until after Christmas, I remember because I’ve been waiting for deal on them in the last couple of years. It seems odd to offer deals right now as well, as plenty of people by football shirts and merchandise as Christmas presents.

Most items with their prices currently being cut to ribbons will be bought as Christmas presents. The disposable income of the last pay packets before Christmas are a finite resource and manufacturers/retailers want every penny of it they can get so will sacrifice profit margin to get their hands on it. If adidas are sitting on a load of stock they would be wise to cut their price, especially considering demand for the a season’s shirt falls through the floor by March. TBG
Castore were quite good when it came to Black Friday. Could pick up the entire training range for about £4.
