Jesse Pinkman
It was all a smokescreen to pressure McClaren into the job.
St1pe
I wasn't even sure how I felt about Vieira but have the familiar feeling of disappointment that follows from the club pretending they're trying to do something and it inevitably turning to nothing. Unbelievable
Not under consideration, according to SSN.
sbnufc
Sky Sports News HQ @SkySportsNewsHQ 14m14 minutes ago BREAKING: Sky sources: Newcastle to hold talks with John Carver in next 48 hours to clarify his position. #SSNHQ Amy Lewis @SkySportsAmy 14m14 minutes ago Sources - the club will speak to John Carver in the next 48 hours. If a new appointment is sought McClaren remains a frontrunner. Definitely gonna be carver
Hanshithispantz
I would prefer Carver over McClaren, I'm not even joking.
midstoon
It'll be McClaren working with carver. more of the same as Pardew and carver then. Anything else would have been considered as ambitious & that a big no no at NUFC

taxfree
Really wanted Vieira. Back to the reality of Newcastle under Ashley I go. Bye excitement. Bye ambition.
r0cafella
Did we talk to him then? It's funny the source who said he was under consideration is now saying he isn't

Klaus
I would prefer Carver over McClaren, I'm not even joking. At least if we got Carver, the fans already hate him. It wouldn't take 3 seasons for people to see the light like with Pardew, and some would with Mcclaren.
midstoon
Also Obvious that PV would have said he wanted to choose his own transfers and that was never going to happen. Ashley will never change and you must be a f*ckwit to believe he would.
Hanshithispantz
I would prefer Carver over McClaren, I'm not even joking. We get McClaren and despite the fact we'll be going nowhere he'll be given time, all he needs to do is finish in the top 10 1 year for half of our lot to worship the ground he walks on - literally forever. Guest reefatoon
I'm getting to the point of accepting nothing will happen till the end of June and even then it will be some kind of bungle. http://i.cubeupload.com/RSjTzs.jpg
Zero
Exactly, that's why I am not surprised. No way we will get away from the Carr earning model.
EthiGeordie
To be fair it is stupid of PV to ask full control if thats the case. This is a big job for him he should start here.

Wallsendmag
Also Obvious that PV would have said he wanted to choose his own transfers and that was never going to happen. Ashley will never change and you must be a f*ckwit to believe he would. Exactly. As long as Ashley's here all we'll ever have managing the 1st team is a "yes man" who won't really be up to the job. Vieira was never going to allow other people to tell him who his backroom staff are, which players he'll be signing and having his best players sold from underneath him. McClaren is out of work and has just finished 8th in the Championship so his stock isn't exactly high and he'll be grateful to get back into football at PL level so will just do as he's told, same as Pardew, same as Carver. In short, nothing's changed and those who believed what Ashley said in his interview should feel silly.
NG32
urrrgghh 8 year plan with McClaren.
Raconteur
Probably didn't even ask for "full control". It was more likely something simple, like his own backroom team, or aiming up the league. "Nope, not negotiable. Sign on under our terms or fuck off."
