Alberto2005
Fair play to him indeed. He's handled himself brilliantly during the who saga. Type of character you want in your squad. Not sure I agree, I don't understand why he didn't force it. He's 26, and it's a short career.

Then again do we need another player crying and moaning because he won't be getting a slightly larger sack of money each month?

I agree, one of the clubs in trouble will have no problem paying 15-20 million in transfer fees and a large deal, if it keeps them in the Premier League. The only worry for Austin is catastrophic injury.

On the flipside QPR will probably gamble keeping him and letting him walk for free to Spurs or wherever next year to keep him for an extra 6 months and in theory fire them into the Premier League. Taylor Swift
Yup. 25 goals from him in the Championship would make them likely to come up, and coming up is worth something like £70m next year. It's an easy decision if you're QPR.

If QPR are looking like they could get promoted, he will probably see it out rather than risk joining a club that could get relegated.
Stottie
The main factor in him staying may be him personally not getting the type of deal he wanted, but at least he hasn't upset the fans. If he scores twenty again (look how many Shola got) and is available on a Bosman, he'll get a fair chunk as a signing bonus wherever he goes. That might be worth more to him than the chance to play for Crystal Palace at this moment in time. Woy has also picked non Premiership goalies for England, and may have assured him that Austin does not need to be in the Premiership to be in contention. sempuki
‘He (Austin) has been on Newcastle’s radar from the second half of last season and during the summer, and he will stay on the radar, definitely.’ £6m - sounds like something we would do: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/newcastle-united/11862008/Newcastle-transfer-news-McClaren-to-return-for-cut-price-Charlie-Austin-in-January.html

Mole_Toonfan
As if that would have made any difference to tonight or any of the games so far.

Mole_Toonfan
Perez would have offered more than Cisse, hell there's probably a kid in the youth team that would have. Doesn't mean an awful lot.

Skeletor
Sending off part no, but not scoring in 5 yes. We haven't created anything for anyone to score We've played with 10 men for two of the games and had Cisse bouncing every pass off him tonight. Austin would make a huge difference. Mole_Toonfan
Huge difference how? We would have lost to Swansea anyway, we hardly had a shot against Arsenal and against Man Yoo considering how the game was approached i doubt anything would have happened there either. If he was actually given the start against Southampton fair enough, considering how the whole team played tonight fat chance of anything happening there. Nothing would have changed. Kanj
I've seen Austin create his own shot, I've seen Austin trap a ball, I've seen Austin look remotely a threat of creating something for someone else too. I'm a huge fan of Cisse's but I can't see how on earth he's supposed to do anything if he can't even do the basic shit which is trap a ball, pounce on a defenders error (which in turn he can't trap), or if he's supposed to be the instinct finisher, then he needs to get something on target when he's taking a half volley. Dave
Fairly sure Austin would look like he gave a fuck as well, trying to impress and get in the England squad and that.
Mole_Toonfan
He scored goals in the QPR side because they actually created chances believe it or not despite the fact they went down, far more than we ever do anyway. He averaged something like 7 shots a game last year, don't ever recall we getting that as a fucking team. Not about Cisse anyway as i'm aware he's shite and i'm aware Austin is better but i don't think it would have made much different to the end game of being win less.
