Tbf Wijnaldum is playing regularly in a Liverpool side that have been excellent, Anita was a young up and comer and looked decent before he got Pardewed, and Janmaat while having gone down hill was a pretty decent fullback, especially when he first joined us. Even when they’ve missed tournaments. Quality wise the Dutch were great. Always a number of quality players. My entire life span pretty much. Gullit, Davids, Overmars, Makaay, Van Nistelrooy, Robben and then the production line suddenly stopped. Did the lack of money in the Dutch game kill the development? Yeah, normally the Dutch have two or three players in their side - like a Sneijder - who can add that important bit of extra quality. Last night, I couldn't see anyone of that kind of standard, and they looked very ordinary. Hard to judge our performance, but I thought some individuals did their chances of selection no harm at all. Lingard now always looks class, Oxlade-C was given a chance in his favoured position and thrived on the responsibility, Maguire has the temperament to make the step up, and Rashford continues to make progress. We're solid at the back but also comfortable bringing the ball out from there, we've got scary pace...we lack some creativity in the centre but I think you can get away with that when you have pace like we do. Guest Howaythetoon Posted March 24, 2018 Share Posted March 24, 2018 I’m not a massive fan of Southgate, but he does have this young and lacking in real quality England team playing possession football which is something we’ve always lacked even when we did have some great players. As for the fans... they put me off England more than anything, even those that go away just to watch end up turning into complete toss pots and it’s no wonder whenever a Brit is abroad on holiday even with wife and kids and wants to wear his club shirt or an England top bars and restaurants and locals think the worst. Impressive to get arrested there I got escorted off a flight at Schiphol and they wouldn't let me on the connecting flight to London until they felt I wouldn't be a risk. They made a Semi Final with Gini & Janmaat key players. With a close to prime Robben, Van Persie and Sneijder. We were relegated with those two lads as actual key players. As in the ones to make THE real difference. Those lads are not those kind of players. Gini & Janmaat do have talent but for whatever reason, they don't make it count enough.
