I've just turned it on, has it been this deathly silent throughout? And where all the empty seats like that in the first half, or are they all just due to people coming back from half time late? ???

Still coming back from half time. First half hour was pretty loud but then the game was over

Rogers allways takes the ball the right way - one of those players that sees moves ahead. Anderson was brilliant too throughout. Just wish we had that one extra proper centre-forward for this half. Hopefully Solanke comes back.

Once again there on the left Rashford’s execution isn’t good enough and it puts us in trouble. I wish he’d kept Gordon on the left and tried Rashford through the middle.

I'm not normally one to moan about people leaving early, but Wembley is 2/3rds empty before extra-time was announced. That's mental.

I’d never leave a game early, but now at least you should be able to relate to what a pain in the arse it is to get home from. And I live in North London.

Solid performance from the Gingland. Sad that the cockneys and mockneys had to scuttle off early in case the tube was running .5 seconds late.

Thought Rice, DJ Ed Spence and Rodgers were all particularly decent before both teams declared.

You should care about coming out with outlandish claims that are entirely incorrect.

Maybe so, but we didn't have to worry about this. You can't really use this as a tool to compare them IMO when Gerrard played in poor sides and Scholes didn't.

It's like saying Ronaldo is better than Messi because he did it in the Premier League.

He wasn't though.

We got to 18 major finals since he joined the squad in 1994 and he started 14 of them. He missed one through injury, one through suspension and the others were when he was 20 and 21.

You had me at “maybe so” ;)

First time at an England game and I am not surprised with the comments about the crowd.

The friggin trumpet and drum over power the crowd.

Half the people around us didn't seem to care that the match was on

And the rest then started leaving with 20 minutes to go.

I blame Rashford

Scholes is the only world class CM we’ve had since 1996.

Wasn’t in Scholes’s class, though he was a powerhouse of a player.  Scholes could’ve slotted into Barcelona’s midfield of the early ‘10s, Gerrard wouldn’t have made the bench.

Yep.

Nope.

Like I say history has been rewritten on his career. He was regularly a bench player.

What are you on about? Are you trying to pass Scholes off as some kind of super sub?? Is he not one of their players with the highest number of appearances?
Just checked third highest behind Ryan Giggs and Bobby Charlton. 718 appearances (almost twice as many as Shearer had for us).

I don’t care that much frankly

And to give an answer to the argument Gerrard was the better CM. He could drag poorer teams along and was far more effective in a team that didn’t have the ball dominance Man Utd had.

If NUFC ever had to sign one I’d of went for Gerrard. He’d make a bigger impact on a more regular basis in games. Scholes never grasped games single-handedly like Gerrard.

Yes, because Man Utd’s first choice midfielder had nowt to do with them being dominant on the ball.

Zidane, Iniesta and Xavi all felt that Scholes was the best midfielder of his time.  But what would they know?

Gerrard seemed to change more games, not sure if thats because he was often surrounded by much poorer players than Scholes was, the 2005 CL winning side a case in point.  Gerrard a better tackler as well.  Didn't like him but don't get the notion that they were different class.
