That goal. Gazza, that goal.

Had no idea Seaman had saved a pen.

The ball moved just as McAllister was about to whack it too.

Thanks Uri.

He did actually claim credit for it too didn't he [emoji3]

I remember as soon as Gazza scored running out in to the back garden to practise doing that without success for about 5 hours.

Football when it's good. Best thing in the world. :memeyeah:

The biggest problem about that celebration is how long it took Shearer to get the lid off. Proper anti-climax.

 Remember Keegan trying to squirt his water bottle in the air against Fulham?

Yeah.

That guy in the crowd who shakes his head must have gone out of fashion for about 18 years but looks cool as fuck now seeing as everyone's wearing those sunglasses again.

The Euro '96 squad seems great in hindsight now, but at the time Gary Neville was inexperienced and both Anderton and McManaman were often seen as weak links iirc and were very hit and miss. Platt wasn't that great either and Pearce was past his best. Seaman, Adams, Gazza, Ince, Shearer and Sheringham were all obviously mint though, but their reputation was built on that Euro '96 performance, the polar opposite of the '06 World Cup squad who, on paper were better overall, but lacked a Shearer and Seaman. That squad had Neville, Rio, Terry, Cole, Beckham, Gerrard, Lampard and Rooney in and, Beckham and Cole aside, they were all pretty useless.

What on earth did Beckham do in 06? Terry and Ferdinand were quality in that tournament, too. Main thing that squad lacked was, as you say, a Shearer. A talisman who'd put the ball in the net when it counted.

In 2006 Beckham scored the winning goal in the second round with a trademark free kick. However it papered over the wider problem that he had become a complete liability already since Euro 2004.
