In the statement they claim Sunderland to be the biggest club in the north east  :iamatwat:

Deluded f***ers

The gift keeps on giving at the minute

They say they cannot commit due to film and tv commitments  so Kate Adie must have an advert for Scottish Widows and James Bolam has a walk on, non-speaking part in the remake of Freddie Got Fingered

In the statement they claim Sunderland to be the biggest club in the north east  :iamatwat:

"Our club is the biggest in the North East, should be one of the biggest in the country and the Premier League is therefore the only place it belongs."

As well as the usual 'mack-slapping'

"We have been so touched and inspired by the reaction from our fellow supporters, who rightly deserve their reputation as the best fans in the world"

 :lol:At what point, bearing in mind we are at least 3 weeks into the rumours of their involvement did they decide they were 'too busy' to progress anything?  The mackems are even giving them credit for driving the Germans bid and raising the club price

Perhaps they put the takeover in the to do list and now they've had a look have ruled it out.

I think they have possibly made a lowball bid and been told no, or they have offered what Short wants for the club but are unprepared to pay the extra he wants to clear the debt. Now they realise they can't get it for next to nothing they have decided to use the PR machine to say it's not in their current interests.

They can call themselves a big club, they can say they belong in the top flight and they can brag about the 6-in-a-row.

But they can't seriously claim to be the biggest club in the north east   Have an ounce of self-respect, man. Nobody believes that

Very tough start to season. A fair bit of the middle of the season looks winnable, but the end of the season looks pretty tough again.

If they have a bad start, going to be extremely difficult for them to get Play Off's.

Play offs would be an absolute bonus.

I'm just hoping we're not in the bottom 3 around December.

Just an aside, I was at our 'fixtures breakfast' this morning. Some bloke mentioned Tuchel as a genuine choice of manager.

I now really like Guy Mowbray though. Very honest. Even when club legend Bally turned up and towed the party line.

Suppose a lot does depends on what happens before the season starts.

Going to be an intriguing league - hard to call the 3 that get promoted imo.
