Ikon
He got it wrong on friday. The good part is that he wont give a shit about replacing players who don't perform to his expectations, he isn't one of the managers that tries to be friends with everyone, i mean he's friendly, but still The Boss. He's here to do his job. Unlike some managers who play the same shit over and over again expecting a different outcome.
Guest ElCid
Benitez's mantra has always been compact. I doubt that'll change, as much as I think it probably should in this league. Agree with this. I can see why he went for a cautious set up. Tight pitch, awful away record, first game of the season etc. But despite all of the whining about the ref. We created about two decent chances all game and we only started pouring it on when it was too late. I have complete faith in Rafa's long term plan for the club. But I didn't agree with the team selection before the match, I didn't like how negative we were and I think he got it wrong. I'm sure he is well aware of the issues, what he'll be changing and who he'll be dropping for Huddersfield. I expect to see a much improved showing on Saturday and I think we'll all see one. I just couldn't understand why play so negative against a Fulham team who nearly got relegated and have lost their 2 best players. Hopefully on Saturday that team will be rectified. Lotus
I do wonder about what Rafa's options were. Aarons came on and looked ineffective. Shelvey came on and was blowing out of his arse after 5 minutes. I don't like Colback but i would have expected him to do better, i'm sure Rafa did too. I also thought Anita would have played better but he didn't, ditto Perez. I still think we looked a better team than them for 2/3rds of the game. Then it got a bit desperate. Mbemba for bringing the ball out would have been a game changer and we'd be starting 20yds further up.

Guest ElCid
Again I agree but I still can't fathom out why he selected that team in the first place - big Rafa fan but he droped a massive fuck up there
madras
Again I agree but I still can't fathom out why he selected that team in the first place - big Rafa fan but he droped a massive f*** up there and that's my worry, that he's too wedded to the 4-2-3-1 thing. Seems like he's playing the division instead of the match. (Only reason for playing Hanley)

I'm hoping that's the case and it was more to do with him not being 100%. He should be in the team if fit.

Agree - As I have said before to play that division you need to take the game to the opposition as we did under Keegan and Hughton - if we play negative away from home then I honestly don't think we wll go up. Fulham were nearly relegated and had lost their 2 best players so why on hell play negative and 2 (and I would say 3) defensive midfield players. AY
Guys need to remember that we had a pretty thin squad to choose from with De Jong, Moussa, Diame and Mitro (did I forget someone?) out. Aarons was the only attacking player on the bench. Armstrong is inexperienced. Playing Aarons from the start would have meant that we have pretty much no one to bring from the bench. We need wingers and a striker. I think the movement was poor anyway. That doesn't change by bringing Mbemba in place of Hanley. Chancel should start of course. Beren
We really could do with shifting at least one of Shelvey, Colback or Anita Even though we're shorthanded in terms of numbers, I'd be totally happy with this.

We're all hoping we sign a MF who can pass AND run around. I bet Rafa would love one too. Maybe Mbemba wasn't fit. Given their striker was 6' 6'' i can understand why Rafa went for a taller CB partnership.
