TRon
priority is getting a decent striker in. Probably be ripped apart for this but we could do a lot worse than Dwight Gayle for our attempted promotion charge. Not likely. Pardew is going to have a similar lightbulb moment to Allardyce when he realises that a striker who scores is more important than a one who does everything else but. Troll
If Rafa stays, it'll also be a big statement of intent. We'll find it much easier to sign/keep hold of players than if we just appointed a Neil Warnock.

Deckard 13
Need a spine of solid players who probably should have a history or knowledge of playing with cloggers. Should just buy a mix of the best youngsters in the league with a bunch of reliable, productive older lads. Leadbitter has been in the team of year the past two seasons so it can't be too hard to find players.

LoveItIfWeBeatU
Without meaning to be arrogant, we don't want to load the squad with Championship standard players. If Rafa stays we're more likely to attract better players than you'd usually expect for a Championship club. Rafa wants a "strong" team so we go for promotion at the first attempt. We'll probably keep a few players you would've expected to leave, get new players of a good standard (some decent players may be willing to play in the Championship for one season if they expect to get promotion) and get the pick of the loan players available. This all day long. Obviously there are financial considerations and cloth will have to be cut to an extent, but if we're serious about going for promotion* we need to be giving ourselves as much of a headstart over the other teams in this division in terms of squad quality and not be shy about it. I don't think, for example, we need to be pissing about going into the season with Armstrong as the first choice striker only to realise by October he's not good enough and we're writing the season off because we don't score enough goals. We'll also need players with guts and character. Our away record last season was horrendous which points to a lack of mental strength and if that's not sorted it could be our downfall. *goes without saying this is a big "if" with these jokers in charge. wyn davies
All will depend on whether Benny remains on how we progress, it could be the case we sell no-one keep the relegation team and progress from there and run with it.

I wonder why he had any say on whether Barton should or should not join us last year? I didn't hear the interview but that sounds a bit like Joey visiting make believe land tbh.
