A new manager and a derby match, but the Stadium of Light still has plenty of empty seats.

 

They should be fined for that, like the authorities will do in La Liga from this season.

La Liga are going to fine clubs for not selling out?

 

Sort of but only for empty seats visible from tv cameras, and they'll help out, not by subsidizing tickets or anything but by providing big tarpaulin sheets that cover empty sheets and give the appearance of people sitting there or something. Which is completely ridiculous.

I agree with it actually.  Means clubs have to do their up most to get fans in.

I agree with it actually.  Means clubs have to do their up most to get fans in.

I get trying to get fans in, but fining them when they fail to do so just seems a bit harsh. There are a whole load of mitigating circumstances that could effect an attendance.
