Having to resign for eating a pie ffs

Mind, an EasyJet cabin worker got fired for eating a bacon sandwich.

Was it yours?

Nope.

Did you note both EasyJet and Ikea were shown to be in the wrong? As are the FA & the club here.

He's clearly broken the rules though, you can't make exceptions for it.

Maybe it's a case that the rule needs to be changed if there is one. What is the anti-betting rule on eating a pie or any food whilst sat on the bench out of interest?

It'll be this bit:

It prevents participants covered by the ban from betting, either directly or indirectly, on any football match or competition, including the passing of "inside information".

That doesn't cover eating a pie in my eyes. I think he should challenge it.

I reckon he'd be better off handing in his resignation and riding off into the sunset. Then immediately signing a contract with Talk Sport.

Isn't it some sort of offence if he knew if he was going to do it and told friends to bet on him.

Yeap, that's the issue here.

It's a shame Carver didn't have to when he admitted he was "eating a pie at the time" when Pards told him to do the press after his last match before he left. Would have saved half a season of having to watch him lick his lips.

It's harsh that he's lost his job, like, cos it's harmless. But it was a bit dim of him to get involved when the rules are pretty well-known. Even if it's barely even a 'football bet', it would have been a lot smarter to just ignore the temptation for megabantz when it was always likely to be questioned in terms of the rules of the game.

I can see why Sutton have binned him off for those reasons.

 surely he can't win?

- Sits on the bench and eats pie: wins people money, looks shady

- Sits on the bench and doesn't eat pie: makes The Sun money, looks shady

What a complete load of bollocks. Yes, it's unprofessional that he's eaten a pie during a serious big match, and that's literally the only thing he should be told off for. Sacked for it, ffs. Our ex-manager headbutted a player and got a slap on the wrist and a fine.

This has probably been done by the club so they can rid of him on the cheap as they can afford a better backup GK now with the money they've made from the cup run.

FWIW the Sutton manager was on Five Live earlier and he wasn't happy with that keeper at all, not least because of how badly it reflected on him and his coaching staff that a player would be on the bench eating shite. Said it was just really ill-advised, can't argue with that.

Imagine if they end up being fined for it, could wipe out a load of their income from this run.
