Klaus
Perhaps he is trying to make a point, that he does not just automatically pick players, based on their name/reputation.
Guest
Who else do you think could be out then? Hart?
Mole_Toonfan
It's Slovakia, the team he's apparently putting out should be more than good enough. Kind of hoping that Sturridge and Vardy perform well so it forces Hodgson's hand. Obviously Rooney will come back in and Alli probably will too but pace and movement in front of Rooney and Alli is a step in the right direction. Yorkie
I'm keen to see how else he can set this group of players up but this would seem quite needless.
Hanshithispantz
Seems absolutely stupid tbh, Rooney's been good but I'm not too fussed about rotating him out, same with Sterling and Kane (although they've been shite). 6 changes seems well overboard though and Walker's been probably our best player. Mole_Toonfan
Who else do you think could be out then? Hart? This is apparently the team. Hart Clyne - Smalling - Cahill - Bertrand Henderson - Dier - Wilshere Sturridge - Vardy - Lallana
Hanshithispantz
Don't think Slovakia is anywhere close to a given like
Yorkie
Thing is, if this lot absolutely spank Slovakia it would be brilliant, but will reopen all the debate about whether or not Rooney should play.
Guest
It should still be enough to beat Slovakia but if we did somehow manage to balls it up I wouldn't like to be in Hodgson's shoes for the next few weeks. The press would be absolutely savage against him.

I wouldn't take him out for the KOs regardless, but i do think if Wilshere or Henderson ( more likely Wilshere tbh) performs then it's possible that Alli coming out as he looks uncomfortable deep anyway. I think the most realistic outcome is that Vardy and Sturridge comes in though and the rest stay as they are, which is probably the right decision anyway. Basically the only changes to the team i see sticking going forward is Sturridge and Vardy for Sterling and Kane and that's assuming they perform, the rest will probably be as it was. Treating the game as a friendly is fucking stupid. Honestly wonder what Roy's plan was coming into this tournament, he's just winging it by the looks of things. Mole_Toonfan
If Wales can beat them so can we, if you can't beat Slovakia you might as well pack it in and go home anyway.

You can beat them obviously, it's just not some foregone conclusion and teams have had worse results than not beating Slovakia and gone on to do well before

Wouldn't be surprised if we draw and Wales win and we end up 2nd I'd take that, as I'd have to work on Saturday should England win the group. And I really don't want to work on Saturday as Friday is midsummer, one of biggest holidays in Sweden where large amounts of alcohol will be consumed. Wullie
Coming 2nd wouldn't be too bad as long as Portugal don't come 2nd in F. No way would Ronaldo keep missing sitters if playing against us.

Might as well play 1 at the back for craic then. We still need to play our best team, we're in a tournament.

France rested players tonight despite knowing that a defeat would have seen them have a very tricky tie against either Germany or Poland. I don't have too much of a problem with it actually. I reserve the right to change this opinion at 10pm on Monday.
