There must be a reason why we haven’t done that? As it’s been clear for what? 2 years or more now he has no future at all here.

Because then all his remaining contract would be paid in one FFP period

Absolutely mental that this lad is still under contract until the end of next season. Ten years on our books.

Will he get a testimonial match?

Because it’s a terrible

suggestion [emoji38] Why would we agree to pay all of his remaining wages when we can still get a championship club to at least cover a portion in his final year? As Pompey are doing right now?

Thanks. So that’s why we didn’t do it then. There is a PSR impact and we might even get a small percentage towards his wages from a Championship club.

Hayden was doing 5Live punditry for the final and spoke very highly of Howe, even saying he keeps in touch with him still and checks in. Clearly no bitterness about being frozen out the last few years.

Yeah speaks well Hayden, was mostly still using "we" when talking about us aswell the bits I heard/quotes I've read

He's still got another year left on his contract.

Should we use him as a squad player for defensive midfield and centre back until his contract expires?

He wasn't that bad from what I remember just injury prone.

Would he be classed as home grown in any capacity?

Nation home grown but not club home grown.

No point whatsoever keeping him around.

Why not Murphy lascelles have improved surely Hayden could.

He's not good enough. Lascelles isn't good enough either.

Murphy has done great with years of brilliant coaching, and guess what? He'll be upgraded in the Summer because his ceiling won't be good enough either.

I was thinking the same thing especially last year when we were short CMs and starting Miley every game.  Even if he's total crap, it's more useful than carrying a 5th keeper on the squad.  You could at least imagine a possibility where we sell Longstaff, and maybe Willock and Bruno get injured and you might want him there just for bench cover.

For whatever reason he was straight into the bomb squad - along with Gayle, Hendrick etc. He has had no future at the club since Howe joined.

Even Fraser was given a crack and Hayden wasn’t, to me they suggests he’s nowhere near what the club need.
