Nobody
How long does Zidane get then? The PSG tie in the CL. Probably right. Been embarrassing for them this season like.
Figures 1-0 Football
Would love them to miss out on CL qualification like It wont happen, but would be hilarious.
Guest neesy111
I seriously didn't expect Madrid to be this bad this season, really thought they had the squad to win everything this season.
Guest firetotheworks
Indeed. By comparison it seemed like Barca would be weaker too. Mad season.
Guest neesy111
The one big thing Valverde has done is he's made Barca very organised now back, they were a mess last season under Enrique. Then when you have the talent of Messi and co attacking wise you should win 90% of games.
The College Dropout
Who would've known letting Pepe, James & Morata leave would leave them weaker? But this is silly. Zidane out. Get Ancelotti back in for PSG. Get PEA. Keep Zidane and there's a big chance they'll miss the CL.
The College Dropout
Barcelona for the last decade have averaged something like 87 league points. Even when they've not won it, they've still put up strong numbers. Valverde's done a great job. I still expect a strong CL side to knock them out the CL. Mole_Toonfan
I think they are just hitting the stage of going to late into every competition for last few seasons and not really freshing the team up. They've been the same team for like 4-5 years, at a certain point you need to evolve the team even when you are successful and they never did, i think getting rid of players like Morata and Pepe didn't really help either as it weakens the depth of the team. Ferguson always said that if you don't improve when on top you will eventually go backwards, also a little bit controversial but i don't think Zidane is an amazing coach when it comes to tactics and in game adjustments either. What he was good at was motivation and sometimes a motivator will struggle to revert a slide once it starts. Not to mention a lot of their key players are starting to enter the back end of their careers, just a lot of things happening at once.
sbnufc
Should have got rid of Isco and kept James
Village Idiot
Isco is a fan favorite, but I don't think he's the player they should be building their offence around. Too ponderous, tends to overdo their buildup. A Real Madrid fan friend of mine always says - and I agree with him to a degree - "whenever Isco is the best player on the pitch, it's a sign we're having a bad game". I think that works for today, too.
The College Dropout
Isco was in the team towards the end of last season and Real were probably the most fluid they've been for a long time in that stretch. Isco was pretty much great as soon as Zidane took over. On that front, it made sense. James is too good to sit on the bench. Prior to last season I much preferred James but Isco was superb in those final months and really hooked things together. Overall though, James is the more effective player in terms of goals and assists but Isco is Silva-like in dominating games. Agreed Isco always slows down the tempo. James much faster on the ball which is a strength and a weakness. Having a world class player like James on the bench does a lot to motivate those actually playing. Likewise Morata and Pepe (who was pretty much first choice when fit last season). Disagree with Zidane not being tactically great or able to affect games mid-game. For the last 2 seasons, pretty much every decision he made worked. Formations and line-ups for big games. He had a stacked bench but they often came on to provide big benches. He nearly always made the right decision. Biggest thing of all is Ronny has lost confidence. He usually has 10-15 more goals at this stage of the league season. Then you lose the 25 odd goals Morata and James scored in the league. IMO they need to sack Zizou, bring in Carlo and sign a Galactico. It's been some time since the last Galactico was signed (James? Kroos).
Village Idiot
Coutinho in the squad for today's game against Espanyol. Eager to see him play for us, but not sure this is the best game for it. Espanyol like it rough against us and he's fresh off his injury.
Village Idiot
Off to the semis. Messi was brilliant and we could have easily had a few more, but Pau pulled off some canny saves.
