Menace
Better return than Madueke who we were heavily linked - and Madueke scored 3 against 1 team. Happpy for Murphy - he's getting results but his game is still extremely limited so I suspect Howe has just told him to stick to what he's good at. Fatwax
I’m happy with Murphy being in the 1st XI for a number of reasons, and I never thought that would be the case even a year ago. However, we need depth desperately. My mind shift has moved from an out and out replacement, but it’s definitely a prime spot for a big upgrade. I want Murphy to still be involved heavily on current form and attitude. He offers so much on and off the pitch.
80
I think Murphy won't let up in the slightest if and when we get a truly top class starter for RW. He'd keep doing his best on and off the field and be happy for the club, in fact. He's done magnificently this season. He's obviously got his limitations, but he's never played so productively for so long before. He's a starter on merit for us in our first trophy winning season in decades. toon25
Thought he had a good game Vs Brentford. Broke with pace and clearly links up really well with Tripps and Isak.
Ellis H
He’ll very likely finish second on here. Who’d have thought that a few years ago?

Chelsea play don't play with the same urgency we do. They hired one of Peps disciples, from the control freaks school of football, and so they recycle side to side to side to side to side ... over and over again. It's even affected Palmer's production and impact on games.
Menace
Yeah not really sold on Maresca at all, mental they're challenging us for CL when IMO they haven't been great

That Pep style of football really needs a very high calibre of top technical and cerebral players to really flourish. As it requires players that can creat chances in very tight spaces, as the build up is so slow and looks to pin teams back in a low block. Funnily enough, I don't think Man City have done a great job of getting players good enough to replace the likes of David Silva, DeBruyne, Gundogan, Mahrez and Bernardo as they have left or got older. Could see them continue to struggle if they don't figure that out too.

Think this season will show the shortfalls in a few areas On 25/08/2024 at 17:31, Stifler said: Can’t be. All summer I heard that he should start ahead of Miggy and is much better than him. He has the same end product, and can’t run down the wing unless the opposition LB is out of position. He has nowhere near tracking back ability as Miggy either. On 25/08/2024 at 17:32, Skeletor said: They're both not good enough these days, but we can get away with one being the back up for a real RW until the summer, then sign a young up and coming RW to replace the other one. I don't know whether it can be put down to a lack of boldness, ruthlessness, planning, ambition or what but everyone knows they should've been upgraded. On 25/08/2024 at 17:47, Keggy_Keagal said: Never again. He's Championship at best, his better games last season were when he was employed as a sort of wing back. Offered nothing , at least Miggy would have protected Livramento more. We have to upgrade this position if we're being ambitious. Wasn't surprised at all that his pre-season heroics weren't repeated once the serious games came around. He can whip in the odd great cross or hit the odd decent shot, but ultimately he's not very good in possession. There's no rule in life that says you simply must have one opinion on a subject and have to stick to it in perpetuity. Murphy was shite earlier in the season. He's played far better since, I still think we need to upgrade on him and I don't think goals aside he's played particularly well tonight. Are we allowed to say Vardy isn't as good as he once was . I thought he was fucking brilliant when they won the league. Does that mean when he's 70 I have to say the same ?

Menace
Murphy is a testament to Howe's managerial ability because in what other teams does he start for in the EPL? He's been good for us but it doesn't hide the fact that he's a very limited player. We're just very fortunate that he links up with Isak who mostly puts Murphy's chances away. Vinny Green Balls
3 goals and 7 assists in 14 starts last season suggests that this purple patch has been around for two seasons.
